How can I get the projection (and position ranking, ie. WR12) to closely match your "Top 250 Forward"?

For example, LD has Moss as WR11 but 250 Forward ranks him as WR27.

Try updating your LD - with 5a I have him listed as 22 with our scoring system...

Joel

Thanks. that seemed to work. I did update earlier, but didn't check the version. It was probably not week 5 projections.

Now it's week 5 projections and it has Moss at 26 (with our scoring system).

LD ranks your players based on your scoring system, and the 250 Forward uses Football Guys scoring system.

what's in LD 2.0d? Didn't see a note describing the new features.

A quick note here on the potential differences of the Top 250 forward and the rest of year projections in the LD. David Dodds does the Top 250, which I use to help shape my rest of year projections. That said, David and I will disagree on some players, and we discussed this between us to see how we want to approach those differences. David wants me to use my best judgement in the rest of year projections, which he will then use to reconcile his Top 250 moving forward - sort of a "we keep each other honest" arrangement.

More often than not, the two will be very close - if not the same. Just don't be too worried if you see a discrepancy. I also suggest emailing me if you have a particular question on a difference and I'll do my best to give you my analysis and reasons for why I'm higher/lower than Dodds.

Difference between 2.0c and 2.0d:

Fixed: Free Agent players caused a Run-time 9 error with the new NFL Opponent column on the Weekly Lineup window.

The LD has a readme.txt file in the C:\Program Files\LineupDominator subdirectory that has all the differences between versions.

Bruce, still showing projections for week 4. Is this normal? Does it affect valuations of players--is it considering projetions for week 4 in their values?
videoguy505
Also, obviously, it's projecting points for Chris Henry for weeks 6 & 7. Don't know if there's a way to put him at 0.0s.

Is this with version 2.0d... and a File -> Get New Weekly Projections?

If so, look in your C:\Program Files\LineupDominator subdirectory and see if you have a Week_04_Actuals.csv file. If so it is probably left over from last year. You can safely rename it or delete it.

Strange, no dice. Didn't have any actuals file.

Uninstalled, deleted everything except the .ddf file, re-downloaded and installed 2.0d, and did a Get New Weekly Projections. I have week 5a for both Weekly and Forward, and still showing projections for week 4, in both the Weekly Lineup and Game by Game windows.

Same thing for me...

Do you have any files that start with Week_??_Actuals.csv or Week_??_Forward.csv?

A Week_03_Forward.csv file would do this too.

I see VideoGuy505 deleted all files except *.ddf... so it probably isn't the case with him.

What about jojooboo?
videoguy505
Right, I have nothing in my LD folder but what came with installation and my own league.ddf file. The only file with starting with Week* is Week_Number.csv, which contains the single character "5".

Set the weight for week 4 in the Game by Game window to 0.0 just to be safe, so this is probably merely academic.

I noticed that started happening last week - I thought it was just a new feature that allowed us to track last weeks projections so we can use them for this week...

The files I have are all .php. I have been saving the projfordd-forward.php and projfordd-weekly.php files and renaming them with W03, W04 in front. hpoing to be able to use them in the future - but that's another topic...

I haven't been able to recreate it here... Weeks 1 thru 4 should be zeroed out across the board.

Week_Number with a 5 (or current week in it is correct).

I'm not sure what is causing numbers to be in the previous weeks at this point...

I have the week 4 projections present as well...

I removed LD using the Add/Remove Programs feature in the Control Panel and reinstalled version 2.0d...still having the same issue where Week 4 is showing player projected stats.

Bruce, what do you do to set the projections for past weeks to zero? If I update now, I get week 6 projections and week 5 is zero'd - but week 4 is still present. I watch the Game-Buy-Game as I update and I can watch week 5 disappear from the table, but week 4 is still there.

If I reload LD2.0d.exe, it resets to week 4, week 3 is zero, eveything looks good.

It's out there somewhere.

Joel

Hmm.... ran LD on my work PC and week 4 was removed, but not on the home PC. I do use different .ddf files at work and at home, though, so that doesn't isolate a cause on it's own.

What's interesting is when I did the Get New Weekly Projections update at work, after I clicked Update, I got a dialog box that read "All done importing" or something like that, for me to click OK, and week 4 was removed. At home, i don't get that dialog box, and week 4 remains.

I can confirm that now, when I run update at home, week 5 is gone but week 4 is still there. Curious.

Same thing here with Week 5 zeroing and Week 4 still showing projections.

I uninstalled again and was careful to make sure to delete the LineupDominator folder under Program Files. Then I installed 2.0d again and I'm still having the same issue. Could it be something with the ddf file? Seems like that might be the issue...

Edited to add that I created a new "league file" and added some players to teams. It too shows "projections" for Week 4 and zeroes for Week 5. So it would seem to not be the league file.

I peeked at the code, and I specifically have the strike-through disabled on the Lineup Dominator... I can't remember why now... Is there a good reason not to have the strike-throughs?

I see the strike-throughs never made it back in. Did anyone come up with a reason not to have them? I have my second supplemental draft coming up next week and it would sure come in handy.

For your supplemental draft... just copy the SOS.dat, DepthCharts.dat and Players.dat file from your Lineup Dominator subdirectory to your Draft Dominator subdirectory and then use the DD for your draft.

I installed 2.0 f, had projections to wk 9? Read me said to click on Get New Projections which I did.
I now have projections up to "weekly projections:Week 17a Forward projections:Week 16a" on the bottom of the weekly lineup window.

The problem is W16 and W17 show 0 projected points (no values for any players in those weeks).

The last several weeks of projection updates have wiped out future weeks. It didn't used to do that.

I'm in my championship this week (wk17). Our league has a screwy scoring system, and with all the potential benching of stars I'd really like this to work.

Great software, after bieing with MrFootball.com and fbg since way back, I finally reached a championship. (I've always won my division, then choked). I think the LD has been the best tool for working with a complicated league scoring system.

thanks

hope you had a happy holiday Bruce, and everyone else... football.gif

It hasn't been released yet... you can get DD to work as LD for the first week by setting week 1 to 1.0 and all the rest to 0 under GBG.

LD is out and working like a charm.

I especially like how is shows me who I SHOULD have played in week 1. :-)

Is there a way for previous weeks to display both who I SHOULD have played and who FG recommended I play for the previous weeks? That way I can compare the 2.

Thanks,

OK, I found it. Go to Week 2 info on the website, then click on the "More" link at the bottom of the section on the right, then scroll all the way down to Thursday and it's the 4th-last item listed. That is really buried. I don't even go to the Week by Week page on the site with all the emails and My FBG tools and all that that I have at my disposal. I'd have never guessed this would be the only place on the site this could be found.

Thanks for the reply Anon.

It's always been listed under the tools - I think they take it down during the preseason because it's not valid week 1 and causes confusion.

Here's the direct link: Lineup Dominator

Bruce, anyway to get this up on the tools page?
Bruce Henderson
Already working on it. I got a note into our webmaster to add it to the tools page.

I have no idea how to use this. All the players still project 0 pts.

edit: is there an instruction manual?
Bruce Henderson
The Weekly Lineup requires a schedule (File - Setup - Schedule). If you don't have a schedule or play double headers, enter Avg. Points for each week.

Once you get your league variables and scoring set (File - Setup), and your teams loaded up the rest is pretty straight forward.

The only tricky thing is that you can use the GameByGame weights to get projected points for a given week. For example if you are looking for a player to cover your bye in week 6, set week 6 to 1.00 and the rest of the weeks to 0.00. Make sure the Use Weekly Weights is checked, and then click the Recalculate button. Now the Player Pool and Team Data window will show the project points for week 6. If you print the cheatsheets (or print preview), they will only the points for week 6 as well. You can use this trick for a range of weeks too.

The other thing you can do is temporarily move players on to your team, and then look ahead in the Weekly Lineup window, to see if that player is an impact player for your team.

Is there an FAQ to read about Lineup Dominator? When I click "Help -> FAQ" it sends me to the Draft Dominator FAQ page.

1) Is there a way to see the Weekly projected points per player within Lineup Dominator?

2) Are the Player Pool rankings (list of remaining available players) ranked by their projections for the entire year, as in Draft Dominator? I would love to see an option for the Player Pool rankings to be ranked by the current week's projection.

Thanks!

Go to GameByGame, set the current week to 1 and all the rest to 0 and recalculate.

Something went wachy with LD. It's been working fine for me through the first 2 weeks. Today, I updated the projections, and all the ratings went nuts! All my players ratings went into the toilet. Willie Parker changed to RB 103. Antonio Gates to TE 102. Also, ALL of the players in the Player Pool went to 0 points, and are ranked beginning with #1. What's up? I tried updating again, but nothing changed.

Each Monday, the current week databases are reset to get ready for the upcoming week. This means all the data will be zeros from Monday until Tuesday night when the Lineup Dominator - Henderson link goes live.

Bruce,

I downloaded Lineup Dominator version 3.0a today, imported my league from Draft Dominator .ddf, and then updated weekly projections.

Now under team strenghts and trade analyzer, players like Terrell Owens, Andre Johnson, Tory Holt and most of the other top players have a value of 1.

I would think these values would be updated weekly based on their projected future value, and hold their value from last week if there was no value update yet.

Suggestions?
Ariakis
Have you thought about using something similar to the best value feature of the draft dominator to help sift through possible FA pickups?

Why does it download all weeks of stats every time you run the update? Seems to me that's a waste of time on our end and bandwidth on yours.

Is there any way to disable the download feature so that we don't accidently zero out all future weeks until new projections are ready?

It's an amazing tool ... hopefully you could hit Tuesday night more frequently this season to catch those of us with Wednesday morning deadlines.

My LD works fine except fpr one small thing, when I bring up the weekly lineups my team,on the left is fine, but my opponent,on the right is cut off after the player names,I can't see teams, their projected pts, etc. I tried "pulling" the box,it pulls to the left but not the right. Any idea what the problem may be?

This could be your screen resolution or your font size. Click Start, Control Panel, Display. Then click on the Settings Tab. Recommended Screen Resolution is 1024x768 or bigger (move slider bar to the right). Then click the Advanced button and set your DPI to Normal Size (96 DPI).

For FA pickups. Click on your team in the Team Data window. Then step through the Player Pool tab by tab and see if any of the players have higher points than the ones on your team.

For updates, it currently downloads all the files it needs because it doesn't know if you updated the week before. I will probably make it smarter at some point.

For accidently zeroing... The databases are reset on Monday to get ready for the new week. The trick is to wait until the Lineup Dominator - Henderson Link goes live under the Weekly Content.
