The Door-to-Door Scam
Some states report door-to-door meat sales by truck. The pitch is usually that the seller has just come from selling meat to some fine, local restaurant (he'll give you the name of a restaurant you recognize), but that they couldn't buy all he had to sell. Now he's going door to door to offer it to the local residents fortunate enough to be on his route today.
The American Association of Meat Processors warns that meat sold this way is usually old cow meat, expensive, and that packages are often underweighted.
