Sexson vs Escobar or Swisher vs King Felix? Who do i start tonight? ETA...I'm in a head to head league and haven't had any pitchers go yet. Do I start Zambrano against the Mets and risk the bum costing me whip and era for the week? Or should I just bench him? I'm playing the weakest team in the league and a guy who has like 3 starting pitchers.

OK first off, i would start Swisher in all formats over Sexson, he has the same power plus a better BA and OBPS than Big Sexy

A smart player would bench Zabrano till he rights his ship, and the Mets are a lethal offense.

I personally would roll the dice and start him tonight, i see a possible 6 inning 3ER 6K's plus a W for tonight beer.gif

Ok one more. Who would you start in the utility spot (I'm thinking more in terms of the long haul here rather than just for tonight)--Cust or Hamilton? Who has more upside?

For sure Hamilton, Josh has hit his first bump in the road, which was expected, Cust is just have his moment ala Shane Spencer

Plus Piazza will be back in a month to steal at bats from Cust

Unless its a deep AL only league i see no reason why you have to make this decision now

Its a coin flip which one will get called up first, but there is no reason why they both cant pitch in the D Rays awful rotation

Nathan is only one of a handful of closers who are really locks for 40 saves barring injury

If you can get a closer for Chuck James who is a little bit better than a waiver wire pitcher of course you do it

Linc lets assume will pitch 160 innings barring injury

i see him at around 10-12 wins with about 150 K's and an ERA below 4

basically kind of what Hamels did last year

Gomez is not much of a power hitter so he really shouldnt be rostered at the moment in any league

Maybe Lewis has a crazy month, who knows, but he really isnt worth a spot either

If i had to pick one, its Lewis

Cant answer such a broad question, but there are a few quality setup men, such as Linbrink and Mike Gonzalez for the A's to look into if Street is out a while

I have Brett Myers, who has been performing well as the new closer. Gordon will probably come off the DL in the next week or so. Do you expect Myers to keep the closing job? Should I try to trade Myers now, while his status is up in the air? The guy who has Gordon offered me Bonderman or Harang for Myers about 10 days ago.

My lineup:
s1 - Shields, J
s2 - Capuano
s3 - Wakefield
s4 - Lincecum
s5 - Pettitte

r1 - Putz
r2 - Borowski
r3 - Myers

u1 - Accardo
u2 - Gagne

rsv - Lowry
rsv - Garcia, F
rsv - Cabrera, F (handcuff to Borowski)

DL - Millwood
DL - Zumaya

OK i am back for more questions now,

Definitely do the Myers for Bonderman deal ASAP

You have weak SP and you have enough depth to afford the loss of Myers, who will still stay the closer, unless they want to play Gordon in order to trade him

I like the Teix side by a a small margin

Teix will get better, he is a 35 HR guy at the least, Konerko seems to be on a downswing, but his power is still there, so its Teix by a hair

Atkins at that price compared to Lowell is great value, He will turn it around.

Young is not as good as Cain especially in a keeper

Liriano does not carry much value even in keeper league, cause he still will bring to many questions when he is back

Good fair trade and a case can be made for either side

I was going to answer this, but it is your thread and I didn't want to step on any toes. I think you did a fair job with this one, but might point out that the "gamblin'" player will like the Cain/Liriano side of the deal based on potential (though Lowell is at the age where he could fall apart in a hurry.

Last year after 54 games Sexson was batting .205 with 6 homers and 29 RBI's

This year through 35 games he is batting .171 with 5 Homers and 20 RBI's

See what i am getting at?

He finished last year with a bad but not hideous .264 with 34 HR's and 103 Rbi's

So he will bounce no doubt about that, maybe the average wont be higher than 250 at the end of the year but 30+ HR's seems very possible
