12 team draft...5x5 Roto league. In no particular order, I suspect that A-Rod, Hanley, Reyes, Wright, Rollins, Utley, Santana, Holiday, Puljols, and M-Cab will be off the board...I get 2 of the next 4 picks.
Possibilities...
Howard 1B
Fielder 1B
Teixeira 1B
Soriano OF
Crawford OF
Sizemore OF
Beltran OF
Braun 3B
Ortiz (DH eligibility only)
I am leaning towards taking Braun at 11 and then one of the leftover 1B at 14
I am not really liking this...I wouldn't mind getting Upton or Phillips on my roster, but it is too early to grab one of those at 14, insn't it? They will surely be gone before the draft comes back around again. With 1B and OF fairly deep, I almost don't want one here, but how can I pass a couple of those names to reach for other positions.

If you can get Howard or Fielder at 11 and Sizemore on the way back up, do it, count your blessings, and never look back.

I was in a very similary situation today with the #10 pick. I landed Fielder, then Santana fell to me on the way back (12 teams draft). I say if Fielder or Howard is there, take them at #11 and then pick up Sizemore or Crawford on the way back. Either 2 of those 4 and you have a great start.

Wow...no love for Braun? You think that is too early for him? The guy was incredible last year BA 0.3237, HR 34, RBI 97, R 91, SB 15 in just 112 games (451 ABs). Throw in another 150 ABS or so and you are looking at a monster. This is a 5 tool guy at a position a lot less deep than OF and 1B. Too much risk for a sophomore??? Is that the thinking?

My only fear with Braun is the dreaded sophomore slump, but as they say, the greater the reward, the greater the risk. You're right, he's definitely a 5 tool guy. I guess I think the others are "safer", though that is definitely subjective.

I'd take Braun there, no doubt. MAybe you'll get lucky and get Rollins, Fielder, Crawford, or Santana in the 2nd. You might be able to get Phillips with your third round pick but there is so much quality I wouldn't worry about it. Also consider avoiding a 1Bman in the first two rounds because there is gonna be a quality guy for you to pick in the third or fourth who will not be too much of a drop off.
