The inability to drive home RISP is starting to hurt the team. AJ and Rami left 11 RISP alone yesterday.

Swisher is starting to make me yearn for Owens at the top of the order. He has been shaky the past 10 days.

The good
-Crede crushing the ball and gold gloving it up
-Carlos Quentin being an awesome surprise
-Danks and Floyd pitching well
-Dye and AJ also
-Leading the AL in homers and 2nd in rbi and runs I believe

The bad
-Juan Uribe, again
-Last in the league in batting average, again
-Konerko off to a slow start, again
-Can't manufacture runs, homer or noting, again
-The jury is still out on the bullpen, again
-Cabrera has not done much
-The team is very slow. I've been saying for well over a year now that you can't have Thome, Konerko, Dye and AJ all hitting in a row.

I think Green sad it best a couple weeks ago when said that we've had teams like this before. This looks like an 04/07ish team. I hope I'm wrong!

Good post Wild Bill- Since PK has signed that fat contract it seems as if he is just lost at the plate in April and May and then he gets it going. I think that this is a problem. We played well in April last year and then the wheels came off the track. The team has much more heart this year and the younger players are doing it. Q, Danks, Floyd and Crede (albeit a veteran) are carrying this club. Toss in AJ and JD and we have some solid players. I will give Kenny Williams credit for these young guys. Good job Kenny.

Guys like MB, PK, Thome and Uribe are killing us. Throw in Swisher and Cabrera. Mostly- they represent the top 4 in our regular lineup. The top of the order is not getting the hits. It is walk or HR and a lot of solo shots. Hey they will come around but can they hit together? These are veteran players. Maybe JD and AJ just had good months? The key to beating the Sox is not to give up the long ball. When you have speed in the lineup (aheeeemmmmm Gomez and Brian Roberts) you take advantage and steal at will. The bench for the Sox is weak so you outlast them. The Sox do not chip away and manufacture runs. Not a lot of moving the runner along, bunting, taking the extra base as evidenced by the RISP. The glaring stat is the team batting average. That has to end and I am tired of Greg Walker talking about how these guys are working to get their groove. If PK cannot find his groove until July then to me- that rope trick is old. You are a professional get it done. And please- will someone tell Nick Swisher to start hitting the $%^#$*& ball and cut out the WWE gimmicks. We are trying too hard? Just play the game or bring in the youth!

I hear ya. If we go into a May swoon like last year at least we won't be surprised.

Just brutal. Marcum had what, 9 or 10 ks through 5 or 6 innings against us? I can't believe that we've won 14 games and are still in first place. Starting pitching is good again. We can't manufacture a run to save our lifes. Homer or noting! Same #### differnt year. Sorry for the rant.

So much about all the "great chemistry" this team has in the clubhouse.

I saw some of that chemistry in the first two weeks but now I see the hanging heads again just like last year. It's scary how much this team is mirroring last years team.

On a positive note we broke our 19 inning screless streak with a solo shot by JD.

I think Greg Walker should be booted, but I don't think it will do much good. Look at all the veterans we have. You think Konerko or Thome are going to change? You think AJ and Dye are going to do things different? You think Uribe can be helped? These guys won't stop swinging for the fences. Then we got Crede and Swisher doing the same thing.

The Blue Jays are bringing the pitching and so are the Sox. Have to be encouraged by the way the starters are throwing it. I think that we might have to think about Owens coming in and leading off and possibly moving Carlos Q up in the lineup. We need speed at the top. The other problem is with one of these 3 vets- Thome, Konerko and Dye.

Ok, time to bring up Owens and Fields. No reason to wait now. This season is over.

And while your at it, lets try and move Konerko/Dye so that Fields/Owens have a spot.

And completely agree with you PM, the pitching has been outstanding. Who knew Jose would throw as well as he has?

You still have to be happy with the fact that the team is only 1.5 games out. With pitching being so good- we will have a shot BUT we have to do something now. The defense was solid when we were winning but has been hurting some. If we can inject some speed into the lineup we will have to go all out and use it- steal bases, take the extra base, disrupt the flow of the opposing pitchers. Keep in mind that the Blue Jays have been getting awesome pitching and they have been stuck in last place. When I look at MLB early in the season- all but two divisions have very tight races. The Sox are above .500 in the division and we need to keep this going. Get a win today and bring something vs. the Twins. This is a critical part of the early season as we are not going to get a day off until May 19th with the Twins and a trip out west in the offering.

I agree- he might need another day off with talk going around the media that he might be done. That lit him up last time!

Why does Crede hit 8th?

I think it has something to do with having some power in the bottom of the lineup.

Looks like they need a little power near the top too.

Quentin needs to hit 5th too.
