They score two more runs in the series but we still won.
The next 4 games should be tough; Tampa's home record is 20-9.
When the season started everybody circled May 29th on the calendar and was waiting to see the 1st place rays vs. the 1st place white sox.
Well the long wait is over. Let the Titans of baseball battle it out!
Also the rest of June looks like an easy part in the schedule. Aside from the rays, and dodgers it’s easy.

the sox won 16-7 in their last 23 games and they beat a tampa tean that was 17-2 at home in their last 19 games.

"It can be me. It can be (hitting coach) Greg Walker. It can be the players. It could be anybody. I’m sick and tired to watch this thing for a year and a half. I’m not protecting anybody anymore. (Bleep) it.
"If they can’t get it done, Kenny should find someone to get it done. That’s it."
Kenny Williams just came back and made a statement about Ozzie
QUOTE
'Very interesting, very disappointing,'' Williams said. ''It's never a good idea to throw your boss under the bus, especially when that boss has had his back as much as I have. I guess that lineup will be real interesting to see on Tuesday.
''We have the horses. Everyone has to stay positive and keep grinding. If you're looking for a quick fix personnel-wise, with the climate right now, you're not going to get it. I expect more of everyone in that uniform and certainly the guy leading the team on the field.''

Ozzie should be canned if the Sox don't win the central. The pitching is sick, nearly from top to bottom. Whoever called the curveball to Gross on the last pitch tonight should be fired since Gross had not come close on the previous fastballs. Going into that at bat, Gross was 1-9 with 7 k's against lefties this year and for his career, hits lefties like Tony Pena Jr hits everybody.
The lineup is built for the 3 run homer but needs some more speed. Their only guys that can run hit 1 and 9 and everyone in between swings for the fences.
They just ran into a better team this weekend

Pretty good point a poster made on a Sox messageboard I visit about the Kenny vs Ozzie deal-
QUOTE
Based on Ozzie's comments to the mainstream media the past two years it seems to me there is a "disconnect" between the type of team he wants and the type of team Kenny wants.
I base that on the published remarks in the summer of 2007 regarding wanting to play more Ozzie-Ball but not having the players who can do it, as well as the "I won't lie to the fans" remark.
Then this off season on at least three different occasions he was quoted as saying "I'm tired of the strike outs and I'm tired of waiting for a home run to score runs."
Ozzie can only work with what he is given.
I can honestly see one of the two individuals leaving the organization at the end of the year if common ground isn't found.
Makes a ton of sense.

I look at this as being a lack of communication and now frustration. Frustration is essentially a problem that is close to being resolved with some minor tweaks. Kenny went out and really lit up the pitching staff this year. The offensive contributions? Cabrera, Ramirez and Swisher. All three players have been slow out of the gate w AR and Cabrera showing some signs of life. Cabrera's defense has been solid. Swisher is killing the team and I often tune into a game and he is hitting (or trying) with two outs and RISP.
The blame here goes to the players but a lot of credit has to go to the Rays. They executed when they had to get it done. But now we get KC. What is going to happen if we lose to them, the Twins and the Tigers? The Sox could find themselves in 3rd place by June 13th if the Tigers get red hot. I am convinced it is going to be this up and down struggle all year long but in no way do I blame anyone in management this year. It isn't as if we are not hitting lately (13 hits yesterday). Rather, it is the same guys that are coming up w RISP that are failing. If anything, Ozzie should have had the balls to call out these players and tell them either you hit or you sit. No one needs to get fired but someone needs to get fired up. The team has been on the road a LOT this year and we now have 19 games at home in June (3 at Wrigley). All this will blow up or go away based on some home cooking.

Just want to say to all the bummed out sox fans.
The sox are in first place after playing 1/3 of the season. And we have a lot of good things going for us. Sure we have some flaws but so what, with all those flaws were still the team to beat in the central.
We have a nice and easy month coming up. We should be in better shape 1 month from now. And by then we will have a few teams that we can talk with about some kind of trade if were still struggling with the bats. KW will make a move.

The part that is a big concern is the teams that beat us or give us fits are the Twins the Angels and now TB. The Sox have been dreadful playing indoors or on field turf. We can beat up on the teams that are just bad or slow getting out of the gate but the teams that are good- we are exposing our weaknesses- inability to throw out runners and the utter failure to drive in RISP when we need them.
I think that cooler heads will prevail once the team can get off the road but the main problem here can be weeded out by looking at who is leading the team in leaving RISP.

well they have the starting pitching and the bullpen. they played a hard part of the schedule, and next month will be a lot easier in terms of opponents. thats why they are going to be in better shape even if the offense does not improve. and if the offense does improve they will be even better. I cannot see this as spreading bitterness. I understand that it is more in tune with knowing this team and how they stack up vs. some of the better teams in the AL. Recall- they played poorly against the Yankees and the Blue Jays as well. If the Sox come out and start to fumble with the likes of KC and the Tigers the Twins will roll. Also- we have not even seen the Red Sox yet. It is no secret that the pitching and Q have carried this team. I am not going to rail on Kenny but I am in Ozzie's corner here and I did not read into his rant as throwing KW under the bus. The guy is like us- a fan and he nailed it on the head and frankly- I am sick and tired of watching RISP getting left there. Let's be honest- that rant was reserved for Konerko, Thome and Swisher. These three guys are killing us and will kill us in the long run and I am not buying this Thome is a nice guy crap. He wanted to stay so start to $%^&ing produce!
