I'm at work...can I get a brief recap of scuffle?
Shields plunked Pedroia in first, Crisp in 2nd (first pitch). Crisp charges mound. Shields winds up and whiffs. Coco throws punch that doesn't find it's mark. Crisp tackle. Tough Guy Johnny Gomes jumps on Crisp while he is down. Shields ejected. Crisp ejected. Gomes ejected.
Was Pedroia intentional?

Pedroia wasn't intentional. Crisp definitely was - and it was in his lower leg. He is a little biyotch for charging the mound after that crap he pullled last night.

That was a nice beat down he got from just about the whole Rays team. Maybe Coco will think about sliding into second spikes up for one, and also charging the mound being a huge vagina that he is. Nice that he cried at the end, nice touch.

i missed the 1st 2 innings, so i just saw the fight, and i gotta say, the rays handled that in a classy, yet manly fashion.
shields tried to hit him in the ###, not the head. though surprised that that ##### crisp was charging, shields calmly removed his hat and proceeded to bring the haymaker. no pushing. no waiting for people to break it up. i love shields. since he threw a right, i'm very thankful he missed.
i also thought it was classy that they reserved all the ###-kicking for crisp. no bone to pick with the rest of the sox, just 2-4 guys (it's hard to tell) pummeling the one piece of #### that needed to be set straight. navarro had textbook body slam and gomes looked like he landed some nice shots. gomes is a good guy to have around for these situations.
i'm still shocked crisp would charge over that.

They are complaining that Bartlett blocked 2nd on Crisp's 1st SB last night. He did, but the way to solve that is to go feet first on the next slide and spike the guy in the leg. Crisp took the cheap way out and took it out on Iwamura instead. Everyone knew he was getting drilled tonight. If you get drilled in the leg, take it like a man because you'd be pissed if your guy didn't do the same for you.

I don't blame Coco for the spikes up slide... I do think he was a ##### for charging the mound as sheilds hit him in the leg.
I do think a couple guys on the rays are homos for piling 4-5 on one guy and scratching and pulling hair and ####. Coco calling them out postgame was pretty bush league but I do think it was gay of em.
BOTTOM LINE: Coco should have just taken first then stole second.
Oh and just checking in for the first time this season but big

Crisp should've waited until he had the opportunity to slide through bartlett. they play 12 more times this year, the opportunity will be there. what he did to Iwamura (as well as what Bartlett did to him) was bush league.

It didn't look like Navarro was doing anything. It was like he was shielding Crisp after he was on the ground.

at Gomes scratching and pulling hair. Of course he jumps on Crisp after he is pinned down. Who was the player who looked like a little kid who also was slapping and scratching Crisp? Rays fans?
And big props to Shields. Too many times, pitchers back up, run to the side, or wait for the catcher or someone else to intercept. But Shields wanted to deliver some punishment. Equal props to Coco for avoiding the punch.

lol, too bad Shields didn't have a clue how to fight
First rule of fighting is to be the first guy to throw a punch if the other guy is not expecting it.
Second rule is, if the other guy is expecting it, let him throw the firt punch.
Shields should have dodged Crisp and taken the offensive if he had a clue

That said, I hope he gets the regular 1B gig while Carlos is down. He's too good to be on the bench.

Ditto. Aybar sticks around because he can play both corners as well as RF. Floyd's experience is too valuable to the young team right now. I was advocating for Gomes to be cut loose but after the fight, he sticks around. He can't hit, he can't field, but he has the attitude this team needs later in the season.

everytime i see him make an amazing catch in center, which is about once a game, i get a little depressed think that one day he'll likely be doing that for the yankees. i'm not sure how he ever ended up at 2nd. he looks like he was born to play centerfield.

Upton can't be a FA until December 2012. That's a long time from now and any number of things can happen. Even if he agreed to an extension now it would probably only buy out his arb years and then maybe 1 FA year - so 2013 or 14 at best.
I'm not worried about it now. Counting this year we have him for 5 more seasons.
