At the draft yesterday, we were looking at a lithograph that the host has on his wall of the Tom Seaver blown perfect game.

Something none of us have been able to figure out is the stat IG that you'll find on the scoreboard. It's not as clear in the link but it is IG on the picture itself. You'll see it on the end of the out-of-town games and at the end of the current home game.

Example: Top right under National League, PHI is beating STL 3-1 in the 6th inning. The second stat is P and we've concluded that it is the teams place in the standings. After that comes the mysterious IG stat. Current games have it, final and upcoming ones don't and none of the American League games do.
You'll also see it at the end of the current Mets-Cubs game...Runs, hits, errors, IG. Here it's in game and blank.


Anyone know what the IG is?

maybe the artist flubbed it and it was really "LG", and it shows the score of the previous game. but then why wouldn't it show something for all the games?

that's a possibility, maybe it only shows when both teams had a previous game.

P on the out-of-town scoreboard usually refers to the pitcher's number. I think the artist based his work on a composite rather than a photograph, although this photo looks like one of his sources.
