Soriano back tomorrow. Scored a ton of runs tonight (19) without him again!
i dont like these comments. arizona has a guy like soriano leading off for them, and they have one of the best offenses in the national league
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's back. I'm celebrating the 19 runs and the fact that they've scored a ton of runs lately, coincidentally since Soriano went down. I don't like him leading off though. I think he'll come around and light it up like he eventually did last year.

Mix Cedeno in there. He's really been battling in every AB I've seen him have lately.
i agree thats how the lineup SHOULD look, but its just not gonna happen. i guess we can just wait and see...

It's too easy to jump all over Kerry Wood after today.....pitcher's are aloud to have off days, it's a shame it had to come at home against the Brewers in the 9th inning! Kerry Wood is an effective pitcher out of the pen but coming out and hitting the first guy he sees just tells me that he has mental lapses, this is unacceptable. That can't happen as a closer, and especially against the Brewers! This brings me to my point that I think Marmol is ready to make the move to stopper. Marmol challenges hitters (5bb to 27K's) and he's given up 9 hits in 19 innings this year. Marmol is 2 for 2 in save opportunities and Wood is 4 for 7. Most importantly, Marmol's stuff is filthy, that being said, seeing Wood after Marmol to me is somewhat of a "relief" to hitters. Seeing Marmol after Wood makes Marmol that much more tough to hit, and might be the perfect transition for the Cubs.
Let's see a sweep in St. Louis!!!!

Theriot got screwed on a double-switch after the 3rd inning (Lee made last out, Fontenot had pinch hit for Lieber). They moved Cedeno to SS and put Marshall in Theriot's spot.

Makes no sense to bring Marmol into the 9th in a mop-up game (7-2). Send in Hart or Wuertz or even Gallagher (if he's still up) and hold Marmol for a tight game when you really need him.
Pinella pitches that guy way too much as it is...no sense jacking up even more innings in a meaningless 9th.

Just another day at Wrigley with 20+ MPH wind blowing in from left, sideways rain to begin the day, Tony Romo getting booed big time during the 1st pitch and 7th inning stretch and 20+ seagulls in center to end it. Hard to tell exactly how well Gallagher pitched with the wind the way it was but a good start on short notice the same as the Diamondback starter. An important sweep for the team but they need to be able to beat the Brewers and Cardinals (3-6) in the future to take this division.
