Soriano back tomorrow. Scored a ton of runs tonight (19) without him again!

i dont like these comments. arizona has a guy like soriano leading off for them, and they have one of the best offenses in the national league

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's back. I'm celebrating the 19 runs and the fact that they've scored a ton of runs lately, coincidentally since Soriano went down. I don't like him leading off though. I think he'll come around and light it up like he eventually did last year.

Theriot SS
Fu kudome RF
Lee1B
Ramirez 3B
Soriano LF
DeRosa 2B
Soto C
Johnson/Pie CF
P

Mix Cedeno in there. He's really been battling in every AB I've seen him have lately.

i agree thats how the lineup SHOULD look, but its just not gonna happen. i guess we can just wait and see...

It's too easy to jump all over Kerry Wood after today.....pitcher's are aloud to have off days, it's a shame it had to come at home against the Brewers in the 9th inning! Kerry Wood is an effective pitcher out of the pen but coming out and hitting the first guy he sees just tells me that he has mental lapses, this is unacceptable. That can't happen as a closer, and especially against the Brewers! This brings me to my point that I think Marmol is ready to make the move to stopper. Marmol challenges hitters (5bb to 27K's) and he's given up 9 hits in 19 innings this year. Marmol is 2 for 2 in save opportunities and Wood is 4 for 7. Most importantly, Marmol's stuff is filthy, that being said, seeing Wood after Marmol to me is somewhat of a "relief" to hitters. Seeing Marmol after Wood makes Marmol that much more tough to hit, and might be the perfect transition for the Cubs.

Let's see a sweep in St. Louis!!!!

I don't see Marmol closing. He's more valuable in his current role.

As much as I like Woody, I like where you're head is at. I don't care who closes as long as they are slamming the door.

Did something happen to Theriot? Only one at-bat.
ETA- Okay, I see all 3 of my Cubs were replaced, so I'm assuming they're just being rested now that it is a blowout?

Theriot got screwed on a double-switch after the 3rd inning (Lee made last out, Fontenot had pinch hit for Lieber). They moved Cedeno to SS and put Marshall in Theriot's spot.

I wouldn't go that far. Dempster has been better than anyone expected and Lilly seems to be turning it around lately.

A series win at home vs. the team with the best record in the bigs in the D-backs, would certainly help me forget about the last ten games!!!!!!

I'd love to see the Cubs starters go seven innings like Lilly did for the rest of the series and give the bullpen a much needed break!

Let me rephrase....besides Marmol, I'd rather not see the pen at all
Statorama
Makes no sense to bring Marmol into the 9th in a mop-up game (7-2). Send in Hart or Wuertz or even Gallagher (if he's still up) and hold Marmol for a tight game when you really need him.

Pinella pitches that guy way too much as it is...no sense jacking up even more innings in a meaningless 9th.

Only three runs allowed over two games to the (now) second-highest-scoring offense in baseball.

Good work, Cubbies.

Oh, and welcome back, Mr. Soriano.

My lord it looked cold there. I cant believe people live like that in May.
boubucarow
Just another day at Wrigley with 20+ MPH wind blowing in from left, sideways rain to begin the day, Tony Romo getting booed big time during the 1st pitch and 7th inning stretch and 20+ seagulls in center to end it. Hard to tell exactly how well Gallagher pitched with the wind the way it was but a good start on short notice the same as the Diamondback starter. An important sweep for the team but they need to be able to beat the Brewers and Cardinals (3-6) in the future to take this division.

That's what I'm talkin about! Great way to start the homestand.

By the way, anyone notice former Cubs scrub Augie Ojeda, an every day lead off hitter for the D-Backs hitting .370!!! Are you kidding me?!!?

Also....does anyone know why Chad Fox is in a big league uni? Sorry Chad, but your glory days are behind you buddy. Hendry can do better than this.

Pack a scarf and gloves and a hat and a parka. Gametime forecast about 50. Not too bad though - not much wind. Still, when you're just sitting, it feels colder. I sat out at my sons game Saturday (similar weather) - and was freezing.

I'm really sick of Lou removing Reed Johnson for defensive purposes but leaving Soriano in. How difficult is it to slide Reed over to left and bring Felix in to play CF?
