Any reason for Harden coming out after 5 innings and just 87 pitches in such a tight game? He mowed down 10 and only gave up 2 hits.

Might have to bump the Official DL ticker.

I can see Rob Drake becoming a pretty hated man at Wrigley.

On behalf of Rickie Weeks, congratulations on game 1 ranting.gif wallbash.gif bag.gif

Despite my Brewers losing, it was a fun game tonight. The rest of the series should continue that trend. Turns out I'm going Tues AND Wed, left field standing room...stop on by

The Cubs need another righty out of the pen to bring in besides Howry..........Lou used to bring him in when they had a lead....but since Woody has been on th DL they don't have anyone else besides Marmol......I'd rather see Gaudin for 3 innings........why don't they use him more????????? The one good aspect of Howry's game is that he throws strikes....other than that Howry is brutal!!!
jagbag
1) Helluva slide by Johnson to break up the double play on Lee's grounder.
2) Clutch hitting by Lee for a change.
3) Nice to see Soriano at the top of that order. The Cubs really missed him.
4) Marmol looked pretty good tonight.
5) Decent job by Lilly.
6) It seemed the Cubs were very patient at the plate tonight.

thumbup1.gif Nice job on the W Cubs.

The bullpen has me a little nervous right now, but the starters are a very tough bunch.

ETA: Excellent job by Gaudin

It's been a good series already, but it will definitely lose some of it's luster if the Cubs can't win one of the next two.
We have Dempster and Harden left and have seen the Brewers best, but that's why they play the games.

More than impressive. To think they were tied with the Brewers on Saturday. Now they're looking at a 5 game cushion going into August. Talk about a season making series. Cubs fans couldn't ask for anything more than the spot the team's in right now.

Damn shame the Sox couldn't do the same thing going into Minny.

IMO at Wed. nights game I attended, I saw more Cubs fans than Brewers fans......In the parking lot.....at the Sausage Haus........in the bathrooms........and in all sections in which I could decipher between the Brewer and Cubby Blue. I kind of feel sorry for Brewer fans for that reason. It really shouldn't happen that the opposing teams fans show more support than the home team fans.....I don't care how much a ticket is! Granted this Series at Miller Park vs. the Cubbies is probably the only series that presents that problem for the BrewCrew, however I'm sure the Brewers G.M. didn't make those aggressive roster moves to compete only to be re-payed by fans mediocre support at home vs. the Cubs.

It was very disturbing and quite frankly, I am embarrassed. I can understand bleacher and upper deck tickets migrating south but the entire inner bowl, behind the dugouts, behind home plate were all Cubs fans as well. That means most of our season ticket holders sold out for a few hundred bucks. It isn't going to be much different in September regardless of the standings. Very embarrassing.

Congrats on a very well played series. That was a good ol fashioned ### whoopin

Hopefully it'll just be a coronation ceremony for the Cubbies and we'll be seeing starters like Sumardja, Angel Guzman and Marquis, while the real players rest and take an AB or 2 to tune up for the playoffs.

Exactly as I saw it. The preferred lot was especially filled with Cubs fans...it was just unreal.

I take in about 10-15 Brewer games a year, and as corny as it sounds I think the team feeds off the crowd at home. So here's all these young guys playing in a very important series, and the 4 games were almost like road games.

Do they ever sell well outside of when the Cubs are in town?

Last May, I was looking for something to do with my son while my wife had ladies night at the house.

On Monday of that week I found tickets, through the Brewers website, that were about 15 rows behind home plate for that Friday's game against the Astros. Not stubhub, not ticketsnow, they were readily available through the Brewes themselves.

I was dumbfounded. You just don't buy tickets like that for a baseball game in Chicago unless you go through a broker and pay a ridiculous amount of money.

I would think the experience is similar for other small market clubs. The Brewers are going to draw in the neighborhood of 3 million fans, so they're doing ok. They draw well against divisional teams, especially St. Louis and the Cubs, but are average against the rest of the league.

The Cubs do some weird thing that's "kinda" like scalping but they call it premium seating, which eats up a lot of the good tickets.

I've been waiting for an idiot comment about this.

That's why I said borderline. My whole argument was about how he was being overused. And you do realize that Lou laid off on the kid's workload after that and as a result he's bounced back from it, don't you? Being a Cubs fan, probably not. So let me explain in detail.

I posted that on July 12th. Do you know how many innings he pitched over the next 7 days? The answer is 1 and it was in the all star game. He didn't pitch again until the 20th of July and since then he's only thrown 9 innings over 8 outings. He also hadn't been used back to back days until he appeared in all 3 games this weekend, which I will add was unneccesary.

It's what the kid needed, it's what he got, and your are attempting to mock someone who was correct.

Yes. Everyone knew he had a week off coming up during the ASB ####### (even you I would think, seeing how you are a Sox fan and supposedly all Sox fans know everything). If he only needed a weeks rest, he was nowhere near close to being "borderline finished". A little rest was all he needed., nothing more. That's called a tired arm, not "borderline finished".
I think you were hoping he was so you could get your ####### jollies and gloat about how stupid the Cubs are. You are obsessed with all things that have to do with the Cubs. Face the facts. If you weren't you wouldn't be posting here so much. If you divorced yourself from being a Cubs
fan many years ago(which you have claimed to do) , leave it at that and move on to your adopted team and be happy (but you can't ,can you?). The last I checked they are in a little bit of a rut and might need your support.
Rooting for your team instead of ridiculing other teams, what a novel idea. Try it Limp, it's not so hard.
Fell free to fire away, I'll read (yes, this Cub fan can read), but I'm done responding. It's just not worth it.

The All Star Break is a week now. Good stuff.

Look, while you might think this thread is the holy ground for your precious little Cubs, I'll find my way into here and any other thread and comment on any team I want to and could care less if you reply or not. You've 'proven' yourself enough to me.

And..... It was a spot on reflection about how Marmol had been overused by Lou. It was criticism. It wasn't gloating, what you are doing is called gloating. And you're doing it for a foolish reason, and making yourself out to look like a grade a ###, when I was correct that he was being overused in the first place.
