I do not understand why BnB or Fletch could not have posted the draft order prior to Monday? (so jevy could look at the guys drafting around him and decide who to send a list to.) I don't understand the separation of draft start times. Nor the fear that some folks might begin posting some of their picks a little ahead of time.

It's always been this way since we went to a ladder format. The top dogs are on there own and the later leagues have that info to use for adp. The later the league, the more adp available. From past experience, the drafts start looking more and more alike. We also have a couple of guys who can't start until next week that got moved to this league. If you don't like waiting, do better this year and move to league 1.
Seriously, if a guy can't check in on Monday over the course of 8 hours, then it's not going to be much better when we make a quick turn and he's back up. It also wouldn't have been hard to make a list of 16 and pm it to someone in one of the other leagues.
The signup schedule and the draft start dates were clearly laid out in advance for everyone to see and give everyone an opportunity not to miss out. Open to suggestions in the future, but want to stick to the original plan for this year.

These drafts look alike because everybody in here is pretty much a shark and the only way they look different is when somebody is bold enough to go against the grain with their selection, ADP notwithstanding.
I am not participating in this league, did well enough last year to move on up. Waited patiently for SSL3 to start until this morning. I think jevy got the shaft because you wouldn't post a draft order early (but Fletch has it). I wasn't suggesting the timer had to start before Monday morning. There are plenty of good folk who are participating this year who will go a full 8 hours in any given day without checking in, yourself included.
What exactly is the point of keeping the draft order a
secret until Monday morning??? That really was not answered here. Oh, and no, I do not expect another reply because you will be gone until Tuesday.
Ruffrodys05
May 2 2008, 06:56 PM
While I'm at it..........
There are plenty of guys participating in these this year (all levels of SSL) that are guilty of multiple "time-outs" year after year, yet are still welcomed back. jevy, on the other hand, is always willing to work at things with PM's to fellow drafters and to my knowledge has maybe "timed-out" once during one of these survivor drafts. There are plenty of guys who will be drafting by PM's this year because they cannot get access to these boards while they are at work, yet they are here drafting, aren't they?
No apologies for questioning the hierarchy. When I see something that does not look right, I tend to open my mouth and question the status quo. Like this.....Why did Captain Hook get the bump up to SSL2 over LHUCKS and/or renesauz, who were listed on the SSL3 qualifiers list ahead of Captain Hook???? Was this a "Man-In-Charge" decision to look past other qualifiers and grab somebody you would rather draft with??? Or was it done this way to avoid somebody you don't want to draft with??? The way I see it, these lists of qualifiers were compiled through the standard SSL ladder advancement rules (you know, the way things have always been done.) Yet, rules were overlooked to advance somebody up a league? No consistency there.
I'm gonna bet the first guy that "times-out" in SSL4 will be the hand picked replacement........bostonfred.

Yes, these are mostly always fun. I am relaxed.
There was no anger implied (or actual) in either of my last posts. I was just asking simple questions and stating how I see things. I'm positive I'm not the only one who had questions or saw things the way I did. I just happen to be the one who publicly asks the questions. If asking those questions happens to get me blacklisted, so be it.

Here is what i think happened. BnB has to get the heck outta Dodge for work or family, drops the responsibility on the Number One picker, Fletch. Fletch may not have checked back recently. I hope once fletch arrives, he will get the thread up and off we go. I PMed him, so hopefully the thread will get up soon.

Lets hold off kicking this off until we have a full 16. The plan ( from the SSL3 thread ) is to move Steel Dillo and fbhead back to SSL4. However, it looks like they weren't around on the weekend, so there could be some lag to getting this started.
I suggest we set the start for tomorrow at 8 and let BnB & Fletch get back and get the owners all lined up and everything sorted out. I'll be online most of the day if I can be of any help.

Now, I'm looking forward to hearing your reason for withholding the draft order.
Clearly, your idea of sending the draft order on May 1-2 to the guy who had not logged on since April 24 seems to have screwed over a bunch of people, including the guy who didn't want to slow down any leagues due to your decision.
BTW, did you think before you suggested that I send a list of players to some random guy in another league? Did you really think that was a good idea?

Here's a suggestion for next year. Post the order a day or 2 before the draft starts so everyone can get organized and have a plan in place. See SSL4 2007 if you need an example.
I'm back in town if needed.
I will address the question above regarding draft order. With the staggered start we usually needed to promote when we get a no show. It usually takes a day or two to work thru these and know who will be left in the league that follows. It's a little smoother when we can pull from lower leagues, but the last league becomes in issue when there aren't guys on standby. I don't understand why people signup and then no-show, however it happens time and time again.
