Longoria will win this award in a cakewalk and some of the Boston reach-arounders will give Ellsbury the vote even though he has taken the last 10 weeks off.

I don't see those numbers improving do you? Well if he can heal his broken wrist by next week i guess. Galarraga will start getting press as of today and Ellsbury is a turd and everyone outside of Boston knows it. Longoria still has the lead, but it might not last.

Perception counts in these things. Longoria is/was the face of a franchise that went from laughingstock to division leader. He had the award absolutely 100% locked up before getting hurt.

Last time I checked we didn't determine who the best fielders were by web gems, well.... I guess some people do but I didn't think you were one of them.

He's 5th in RZR, 9th in ZR, 12th in Range Factor, and 2nd in fielding percentage. Above average? Yes. 2nd best? No.

While you and I can discuss OOZ and RZR, 98% of the voters aren't. They're going by the highlights they see on ESPN or what they saw at games. Keep in mind, these are guys that rarely see a complete baseball game as they are heading down to the locker room before the thing is over.

The vote is not even going to be close. I think Galarraga deserves the 2nd place spot but outside of the Detroit media area, Galaragga is not going to grab a single 1st place vote.

I happened to think of another point when having this same discussion with someone at the Omaha airport who noticed my Rays hat (wear it loud and proud).

Remember how dominant Francisco Liriano was in 2006? Tons of K's, 2.16 ERA.......he got 1 first place vote as Justin Verlander ran away with it because he had 5 more wins despite 20 less strikeouts and an ERA 1.6 runs higher than Liriano.

Baseball voters vote with baseball cards, not Baseball Prospectus.

This is a very good point. Sad that it's true, but a good point nontheless. The Rays are the Cinderellas of the league and Longoria is a big reason for that. I mean, the guy was an all-star after all.

Galaragga will probably finish 2nd and rightfully so as he's been very solid this year, but this is Longoria's year and there's little Longoria or Galaragga can do to change that.

No not really. My examples are solid including how Galarraga is not just the best rookie pitcher but he's also having one of the best years of any pitcher in the AL. What Knightro is saying is that Longoria is the greatest fielder since Brooks Robinson because he's getting play on web gems. If that's getting owned, I don't think you understand what getting owned means.

If Liriano hadn't got hurt he would have won, just like what might happen this year.

I drafted Halliday, Sabathia, then picked up Cliff Lee the third week, and added Galaragga as well. My pitching is killing the league.

Halliday and Sabathia have as many CG than the rest of the league combined.

The league is a all-rookie league. We all play FF together and wanted to try BB. That is why I got Jose Reyes in the second.

I have always been a BB fan, but the last 10 years or so I only followed the Tigers. Now I am watching and reading about all the teams again.

This is so much better than football. I love the day to day action.

Liriano graded out as the superior pitcher in nearly every category, despite being hurt, and got one first place vote which equals the 1st place votes Galarraga will get this year if Mitch Albom gives him a vote.

Gallaraga deserves the award, and Ramirez was a nice find, but PR plays a huge role in these awards, and Longoria, for some reason or another, is a media darling...it will not be a landslide now that he is done, but he'll take the award...

On the other hand, Gallaraga has been fairly lucky, and has padded his stats against some mediocre teams...
