Wilkinson has never been particularly impressive on the field and has been unable to beat out some fairly lackluster veteran competition since entering the league. I think those numbers are the limit of his upside, and a slow start would have him at risk of losing snaps. Hard to think he won't get first crack if the Giants choose to stick with a traditional 2 LB nickel package, but they've got enough defensive backs to put Knight or Phillips in a Big Nickel-esque hybrid nickel backer role.
Jene, heard an interview with Justin Tuck last night where he indicated that that Wilkinson would be at SAM and Clark would stay at WILL. I'm not sure if he wasn't just assuming, since they didn't follow-up on the question. Maybe we'll learn more tomorrow night, but it seems contrary to all the reports we've been hearing lately.
Tuck doesnt seem reliable. The NY Papers have been clear that Clark is shifiting over for Kiwi, Clark was even qouted discussing the intricacies of playing an "over" 4-3 scheme at SLB and still going "downhill" as he likes to do. It was reported even before Osi's injury that Clark *could* make that shift (to SLB from WLB), as Wilkinson was taking first team WLB reps after being back from his injury and D. Clark was practiciing in place of Kiwi while he was out with a minor leg injury (noted: this was even before the Osi injury and the shift of Kiwi to DE). Later in the week, Wilkinson saw some time at ILB and SLB too.
How this effects third down, I have no idea.
