I have three picks left, am taking IDP's with at least two of them and possibly all three. I'll have a roster spot open after the draft when I move Osi to the IR. I have an idea as to what I want to do but want to get some other opinions. Here's the best of what's available

DL - Dewayne White, Darnell Dockett, Robert Mathis, Dwight Freeney, Erasmus James, Quentin Groves, Cliff Avril
LB - Matt Wilhelm, Daryl Smith, Buster Davis,Dhani Jones, Stephen Nicholas, Geno Hayes, Spencer Larsen, Leroy Hill, Omar Gaither, Niko Koutivides, Danny Clark
DB - CC Brown, Chris Hope, Charles Godfrey, Ronde Barber, Leon Hall, Chevis Jackson, pacman Jones, Dwight Lowery, Brandon McDonald, Brandon McGowan, Kevin Payne, Ndukwe, Antwaun Molden

You may be in rebuilding mode, but if your leaguemates will give up something of value for a IDP come midseason, it's worth considering given the draft board you're left with.

None of those ends are particularly intriguing for the long term. White and Mathis could become midseason trade bait and are better options that Geathers as your immediate DL2. You should be set with Osi, Hali and Long for the future there, so I'd ignore this position unless you'll be able to move a player for something of future value.

Same story with the backers. Wilhelm hold the most immediate value and may have the best midseason value, too. Hayes and Larsen are low potential flyers, as you know.

Not a big fan of Cromartie or Nelson in a standard scoring league. Hope, McGowan (maybe) and Ndukwe all have fairly good long term potential. Since we're rebuilding, I think I'd try to get Ndukwe stashed and then decide if you'd rather have a veteran as trade bait (Hope, Barber) or troll for long term DB3 potential (Godfrey, Lowery, McGowan).

Personally, I would look at the following at selections:

DE - Freeney should return to form in 2008...he would be a nice player to have for byes and should fall to you at the second pick...if the other teams have built a nice level of defensive ends.

LB - Leroy Hill would be the guy I would take...he is coming on strong this pre-season and is likely the heart of this team.

DB - Hope would be my choice...he had a tough 2007, but should rebound nicely this season.

I think I am going to try and get two DB's (Wilhelm just got taken, my DL is pretty set and those available aren't too exciting), a Ndukwe/Hope combo looks best, and add one of Hayes or Larsen (if they go undrafted) or the best available DB after the draft.

I'm not too keen on Cromartie or Nelson in std scoring either, I acquired a pretty bad team, this is the hand I was dealt - my QB corps when I acquired this team was Damon Huard/Troy Smith/Kelly Holcomb. I had to gut my defense to repair the offense and hope I could fix the defense through the drafts. We'll see how this goes.

About ten picks left and I have several expendable players, looking at a adding a DE (White or Mathis - Freeney was drafted) + one of the rookie LB's + one vet LB (hopefully Leroy Hill). If I can get both Chicago safeties I'd like to do that too.
