Standard Yahoo! league with two required DBs, four DL and two D spots - meaning defensive line players (DT, DE) are not required.

Points are:
1.0 Solo tackle, 0.5 Assist, 3.0 Sack, 3.0 INT, 2.0 Safety/Forced Fumble/Fumble Recovery/Block, 1.0 Pass Defended, 6.0 TD

My draft:

Patrick Willis (1st defensive player drafted)
Jon Beason
Nick Barnett
David Thornton
Ellis Hobbs
Lance Briggs
Derrick Johsnon
Sean Jones

Top players available after draft:

Cedric Griffin
Cortland Finnegan
Von Hutchins
Michael Huff
Roy Williams
Landon Johnson
Eric Wright
Kelvin Hayden
Omar Gaither
Jermaine Phillips

This is a 14-team league with only 4 bench spots - start on offense 2 QB, 2 RB, 3WR, TE, and K. There is little space for defensive depth. I am questioning whether Hobbs will be a solid DB (return yards) and if S. Jones was a good pick at the other DB spot. I am fairly confident with my other six picks, all linebackers. Thanks for any advice. This is my second year drafting IDP.

What is the scoring for return yards?

I will add that Hobbs may not return kicks, so you need to keep that in mind and watch for news about it. If he does not, I'd probably drop him and pick up Phillips or Griffin.

Your LBs are very good. I have Willis, Beason, and Barnett all in my top 5 LBs, so obviously I think you are loaded there. The others are solid too. Sean Jones is a top 5 stud.

With only 4 bench spots, I'd probably just keep the minimum 8 IDPs until bye weeks hit. You should be able to play the wire until then if needed.

These mirror my thoughts exactly. I'm not big on return yards; if Hobbs was a top 20 DB in this system last season and you can confirm that he'll be returning kicks again this year, he's a solid risk. Otherwise, I'd grab one of the two DBs Tony mentioned.

Thanks - We get 1 point per 25 yards returning + 6 for touchdowns - meaning Hobbs was the #2 DB in our entire league last year behind Terence McGee, another return specialist. Hobbs' 911 return yards and 1 TD was good for 42.44 fantasy points, equaling 1/3 of his overall fantasy value.

Obviously, you have to find out if Hobbs is returning kicks before you can decide. I really don't know if he is, but my gut says he will not this year because he is their best CB with Samuel gone. Not much you can do but check the reports. Good luck.
