yeah, both woodley and pace are taken. i sorted yahoo by projected season totals and the top 10 guys are (not all LB, but can fill the same roster spot).
Ty Warren NE
Daryl Smith JAX
Alex Brown CHI
Leonard Little STL
Ahmad Brooks SF
Shaun Ellis NYJ
Adam Cariker STL
Paul Spicer JAX
Richard Seymour NE
Mike Patterson PHI
Are any of them worth dropping June for? or for that matter Charles Grant whom is on my team because i read he has good upside.
I'd bring Little in for Grant. Daryl Smith is a better immediate option than June, but he might lose nickel snaps to Justin Durant by midseason.
whats the reasoning for little > grant? everywhere i look grant is higher in projections?
Where are you looking?
Norton's 2008 full season projections have Little well ahead of Grant (FBG scoring, but Little would have a bigger edge in your sack heavy system).
Rudnicki's 2008 full season projections are much closer, but still have Little ahead of Grant in FBG scoring, again higher in your system.
Five of five staffers with rankings in the last seven days have Little ahead of Grant with Little the 15th overall and Grant the 25th overall consensus DL.
My impression was that you were looking for a season-long option, not a Week 1 starter, but in case I was mistaken:
Norton's early IDP Week 1 projections have Little ahead of Grant in FBG standard scoring and again a still larger difference in your system.
My opinion mirrors the consensus opinion above.
Little struggled through a severe toe injury last season, and had a long history of 40 solo - 10 sack seasons prior to that. In 2006, he was 56-12. All reports have him healthy and at his old level of explosiveness in camp. There's definitely risk involved with Little, but Grant hasn't been nearly as productive when healthy in recent seasons (similar tackle numbers but only 12 sacks over the past three seasons) and has struggled with injury himself at times.
I like Grant, too, and he does have reasonable upside. However, I think Grant's days of 50 solos and 10+ sacks are likely over and much less likely to return than Little's.
