Full Version: which DB should I pick up?

I need to pick up 1 DB since I drafted Ndukwe.

It's a return yardage team with 6pts td's, 1.5tackle, .75assist, 5int, 4 sack, 3ff, 2fr, 1pass defended and 1 per 10 yards kick/punt return.

Which 1 of these do I pick up?

K. Kaesviharn
Y. Bell
Tramon Williams - is he going to be the nickleback that returns Kicks?
Chris Carr - Is he going to return both punts and kicks? Will he play any on D?

I am assuming Ellis Hobbs is no longer returning kicks? If he is, I'd definately pick him up.

With apologies, I have no idea who is and isn't returning kicks. Mike Herman follows those players very closely in his ReturnerGuys feature during the preseason and each week during the regular season.

Depending on Hobbs' returner status, Bell is clearly the best option here to me unless a player with return value only has starting value in your system.

Bell is the only one I like from that bunch.

How come you two don't provide IDP rankings, only Norton does? It would probably help remove a 1 person bias rankings. Norton seems to really like Kaesviharn.

Won't speak for Tony, but the rankings and projections are a serious amount of work. To do half-assed, they'd probably take me several hours. To do well, they may well take 15-20 minutes per team -- that's a minimum 10+ hours of work, not including updates. It takes me most of a full weekend to put together a set of projections in March as my original jumping off point for rankings. That doesn't consider weekly matchup issues, stadium considerations, potential injury problems, recent trends, etc.

I don't think I'd have time to write a weekly column, do the podcast work and stay active on the message board -- all things I greatly enjoy -- plus stay married, which I also greatly enjoy. I honestly don't know how Norton does it. Thankfully, he does, especially since he's the best in the business IMO.

I appreciate the concern about having a single person provide the weekly IDP projections for the website. For now, we try to blunt that effect by actively supporting this AC Forum and publishing many weekly opinions in other columns. It's entirely possible that we'll find someone qualified to provide a second set of quality numbers. It's highly unlikely that it'll be me, however.

because they have to spend half their day telling people which db's to pick up.

I am a full time college student, single parent, have other duties here, and have a part time job. There is no way I could find the amount of time necessary to do it right now. It is a LOT more work than anyone realizes and those who do projections all have earned my respect.

I also want to add the time I spend in the forums, and especially the IDP Assistant Coaches forum. I personally feel that this is a very important part of my FBG related time right now.
