Terrence Newman is injured, so Jones may be starting Sunday...minimum he's the #3 CB, at best he's a starter...even if Newman does play, I think Jones sees more time than he would've if Newman was 100%

Jones is also scheduled to return punts...and, i've been reading he'll be back on kickoff returns with Felix Jones (though i can't confirm this, can anyone?)...

although will they really use him on both punts AND kicks if Newman is out and he's starting?

In anycase, what does everyone think about him for week 1...specifically in IDP league that awards points for KR & PR yards (1 pt/25 yards)...

From what I've read, Felix is the primary kick returner and I highly doubt that if they have to start Pacman that he will get much KR duty. However, he is a lock as the PR and 3rd corner.

Problem is, those are both high risk/reward spots. He could get 1 tackle and 2 punt returns for 15 yards or he could get 5 tackles and take an INT or punt back for a TD. Playing him would be a gamble, but not a crazy one as he is a playmaker and the ball will be flying around a lot this game.

I've been watching this pretty close as I own him as well as my DB4, but no way am I thinking of starting him over Roman Harper or Kerry Rhodes. I'm hoping he has a big game or two and I can use him as trade bait to one of the teams that is thin on DB's.

I'd give the percentages of his situation like this:

3rd CB or better: 100%
Punt returner: 100%
Kick returner: 20%
Starting CB: 50%

I expect 3 solos, 1 assist, 40 PR yards, 1 PD, and one other scoring type play (int/ff/fr/kick return). If that play is a pick or kick return, he may just have a huge day.

I have also read that he will be in the offence on some plays. I could see him run a reverse or bomb thrown his way.

I am not sure I would start him over a stud CB just because of the returns. If he is returing KOs that's one thing, but at 25 yards to get one point, tough to get points that matter on punt returns.

Unless, of course, he runs one back. wink1.gif

(KFFL) ESPN.com reports Dallas Cowboys CB Adam Jones will start in the team's Week 1 game in place of CB Terence Newman (groin).

I'm gonna take a shot at starting him

Benchwarmers
5 tackles and 1 int for Touchdown

I would start him

He's a better IDP player than NFL player, especially as a CB. I like him to get targeted by opponents in the passing game, which is good news for his tackle numbers.

As for being high risk, high reward, that's pretty much the case with all but a handful of the top 30 CB's. It's just not a position which generates a lot of consistency as a general matter. Still, Jones figures to have a good tackle day, so I wouldn't mind starting him as my 2nd CB.
