I saw some posts about Chinedum Ndukwe but then he got injured... He'll be back in a couple weeks I think...
Do u guys think Ndukwe or Marvin White will be a better fantasy choice in a dynasty league???

Chinedum Ndukwe was a 7th round pick while Marvin White was a 4th rounder... Hmmm... Not all the way convinced yet.

Tom Brady was a 6th. He has turned out to be much better than anyone thought. In a dynasty I like Chinedum Ndukwe better.

Here he is rated above Michael Lewis, Whitner and Madieu Williams.

I would rather have Ndukwe. If both are healthy, Ndukwe will play SS and have a chance to make more tackles in run defense. I was very impressed with him last year. I like White, just not as much.

So both are starting? This site lists Jackson as the starter at ss in the depth chart I had Ndukwe and picked up White also because I thought Ndukwe was hurt and wasn't starting to start the year.

Like every other Cincinnati situation, this one has never been truly settled.

Last season, Chinedum Ndukwe was used in nickel and dime packages as a roving safety/linebacker hybrid for most of the season. Marvin White saw much less time when both were reserves. Late in the year, when both Dexter Jackson and Madieu Williams were out with injury, Ndukwe played SS and White FS. Ndukwe was the more dynamic player (11 solos, a FF, FR, 2 INTs and 3 PDs vs White's 8 solos and 4 PDs). That fueled speculation that Ndukwe would win the starting job and be more likely to be used in the box than White.

In the meantime, Ndukwe was injured early in camp and White established himself as a solid free safety making plays in coverage and run support very much as Madieu Williams did before him. And the Bengals have since voted Dexter Jackson captain. That's not to say that Ndukwe can't force himself into the picture at some point in 2008. But we still don't know what his injury is and we're continually told that he's "close" to practicing, a refrain that we've fallen for in the past with guys in Cincinnati.

Right now, Marvin White holds all the value that Ndukwe could have had if he had forced himself into the picture. He's the unquestioned starter at FS alongside a so-so tackling SS and suspect LB group. Ndukwe may still be rightly considered to have the higher upside, but he's got multiple obstacles in his path. My bias in dynasty leagues is to consider a one year window in most cases. So, for me, even though I remain hopeful for Ndukwe's prospects, White is currently the much better roster option. Be ready to move on Ndukwe, though, if things start breaking more positively for him.

the fact Jackson is a Captain has me wondering if Ndukwe will get SS this year because they will not put jackson over white at FS. Is it more likely they will put Ndukwe at FS leaving Jackson at SS? Why would they name Jackson a captian if in two weeks they plan to bench him and make Ndukwe the SS?

Jackson is a rah-rah guy and a veteran on a team full of youngsters. The players vote on the captains, the coaches decide who to send out for the coin flip. Marvin Lewis likes Jackson%s veteran presence, but had Ndukwe out on the field plenty from early 2007 on.

If Ndukwe can provide as much or more on the field as Jackson (which is highly likely), he%ll get the bulk of the playing time once the young secondary proves it can stand on its own feet. Missing camp was a big deal for Ndukwe, so the gelling of the secondary make take longer than originally thought.

How long? Ndukwe is a SS so whenever he comes back he would be more valuable. But the Bengals are secretive about his injury. I like White less but he is playing and less of a gamble.

What worries me about White is that when Ndukwe comes back will they force him onto the field by putting him in the free safety role (allowing their Captain Jackson to keep his spot - and lockeroom credibility) thereby making Marvin White worthless? Jene maybe you could give us your opinion on that scenario. I'm eager to pick one of the two (White or Ndukwe) up but I just can't see one as a better option than the other right now...

I can't see White being benched because he seems to be the only player who has the skills to play free safety. Surely Jackson can't play there. If Ndukwe proves to be ready, Jackson will see the bench eventually because he is simply not that good.

It's hard to know exactly how Zimmer will use those two. He may use them interchangeably, but my guess is that White would be more of a roving cover guy. However, the LB corps is questionable enough that he may still hold value. He did have eight solos and three PDs in the last two games of 2007 in a similar role next to Ndukwe.

I still believe Ndukwe to be the better long-term option. There's no telling when his value kicks in, however. My crystal ball says some time after Week 6.

I'd love another update on White's status. He has been very solid so far.

Does the Dallas score keeper not give out assists? Ndukwe got robbed on a couple of plays including the forced fumble, but still had a good game..

I know for a fact he's the one that caused the Barber fumble.
