Under the VBD baseline. Can someone explain to me how he configuring by position rank works, I am trying to determine where to set this at. The hard part is that baed on our scoring the top RB, WR, and QB average the same amount of points per game. RB are not really weighted as heavily. I do know that I would like to wait until the later rounds to get a qb. How should I set this up??

As a baseline start with worst starter,

So for a start 1 QB/12 team league set to 12, start 2 RB set to 24, 3 WR to 36, 1 TE 12, 1 PK 12, 1 DEF 12.

This will give a good starting point to compare value between positions. Based on your league you will want to adjust these.

Most leagues running backs are more valuable, not because of the points scored, but because good RB are scarce. To make a position more valuable increase the basline. I set RB around 30 for a 12 team start 2 league. Along that same line of thought QBs are less valuable, consider lowering the baseline to 9.

My personal favorite is the following (for a 12 team league)

QB = 9 (Less valuable)
RB = 30 (More valuable)
WR = 36 (Average value)
TE = 6 (not very valuable)
PK = 3 (Worthless)

This pretty much forces me to draft RB and WR early, picking up QB, TE, and kickers much later in the draft.

What I'm having a little difficulty getting my arms (brain) around, is that if I use this method (or Joes) Priest Holmes for example never goes over 31 dollars. I can pretty much guarantee he'll go close to 50 in our league. 6 pts all td's, 10 yards = 1 pt rush, 20 yards = 1 pt rec.

How do you use these numbers to judge realistically what to spend, I'm quite concerned based on last year, I wouldn't get a good RB if I follow this guide.

Suggestions?

Keep in mind that it is just a guide. If you feel that Priest is worth the extra money, then it is your choice. If everybody else overspends though, then there has to be value there for you somewhere.

For example if everybody has a 100 cap... and if the other 11 guys all spend up to 50 dollars for a top RB.... then they only have 50 dollars each to spend on the rest of their team. Meanwhile, you are cleaning up in the late early to middle rounds.
