pretty much why I refuse to play in these types of leagues. I just don't understand why some leagues still insist on having rules that place so much value on RB. Or those leagues where the owners overvalue the RBs, either way that type of thinking sends me packing.Yeah, I have a Zealots league coming up (no ppr, flex), and I expect 3 different 6th round backs to go before 2.04My league goes running back heavy as well, but when there is a talent like a Crabtree or Bryant, those guys need to go before the 2nd tier backs. And I am shocked that Bradford is slipping in alot of drafts. Paragon Fantasy League 16 team rookie draft started this afternoon, IDP/1 pt PPR (WR/TE) 0.5 pt PPR (RB), 6pt TD's except for passing TD's (4pts). IDP scoring is fairly balanced though a little weight towards sacks.

Huh? Correct me if I am reading this wrong... You are going to take Sam Bradford with Dez Bryant still on the board in a start 1 QB league? I can't get on board with that one at all...I'll be bucking the trend in one of my dynasty leagues. 16 team IDP. Pretty desperate for a starting QB, so I traded for the 1.02, and already had 1.01. 16 team leagues make it tough to have a #2 QB, and all I have is A Smith. I'll be going Bradford and Mathews. I'd like to trade down, but the teams immediately behind me also have only 1 QB, Bradford may not drop very far. I may regret not taking Bryant, but feel the need of a bye week and #2 QB makes me draft need instead. I'm pretty loaded (after taking Mathews) at RB, and can start 3RB's. 0.5 PPR, all positions. Bryant worries me. He may just be another one of those uber talented WR's that can't stay out of trouble. Already he reportedly was winded and had to take a break after every route he ran. If not for that concern, I might have passed on Bradford despite my need at the QB position.
If you don't want Bryant or Spiller than trade down to at least 1.04 (and you could probably go down another few picks and still get Stafford) and get more value out of your pick and still get Stafford.Huh? Don't take Bradford that high in a start 1qb league. You will regret it I promise you.I'll be bucking the trend in one of my dynasty leagues. 16 team IDP. I can see his reasoning being in a 16 team start 1 QB myself.Huh? Correct me if I am reading this wrong... 16 team legue... 32 starting QB's in the NFL. If A Smith gets injured, I have no QB and there won't be any available in FA... or any of their NFL backups either. I've seen the one QB roster really bite people in the butt in this league. I won't let that happen to me. I f Smith got injured, I'd have no shot at the playoffs at all, unless I WAY overpaid in a trade, like R Rice for a QB sort of thing. Now add this fact.... Smith only has one year remaining on his contract. He'll be a RFA in this league next year, and people can bid on him. (We assign x contract years to each player, 40 man IDP roster, 100 years contract limits). Peoiple in this league like to hold backup QB's just so if an owner loses a starter due to injury, they have that owner over a barrell. I do this myself too. In addition, we have 13 spots on our taxi squads, were a rookie can be held for up to 3 years. So each of the 16 teams can hold 53 players. Clausen, McCoy and even LeFevour will likely land on taxi squads in this league. If this were a 12, or even 14 team league, I'd go Bryant. It isn't, it's a 16 team league, and there are 32 NFL starting QB's. I can always trade for a WR.... QB's are hard to get. I thought about Bryant instead of Bradford long and hard, but then I'd have to hope Clausen fell to the 17th pick, and then hope he starts sometime this year. Very risky. I need an LB at that 17th pick to boot. Going Bradford is the safer way to go, but like I said, I may end up regretting it. On the other hand, if Bryant can't stay out of trouble and out of the dog house, it may turn out to be a wise decision, especially if Bradford truns into a stud QB some day.Huh? Bryant worries me. He may just be another one of those uber talented WR's that can't stay out of trouble. Already he reportedly was winded and had to take a break after every route he ran. If not for that concern, I might have passed on Bradford despite my need at the QB position.
I am in the camp that thinks Bradford is going to be a stud. I have drafted him in any league I could. That being said I think Dez is a top 10 dynasty WR, and I guess I just have a hard time dealing with the thought of passing that up for a riskier proposition at QB. I would probably still take Dez and do what I could to get my hands on a QB elsewhere. I just think Dez is that good that he shouldn't be passed on there.16 team legue... In my 1 QB leagues you could probably get Peyton Manning or any other QB except Brees or Rodgers for Dez straight up.Why not just trade the pick for a proven QB if you are that desperate for one? Seems crazy to waste the pick on Bradford when it could net you a top 5 QB.
Top 5 QB? Not in this league. Top 15, maybe. And then, I have to live with whatever number of years remain on his contract. One, two? I can lock up Bradford for 5. I could trade down for a middle of the road QB, but then I would not get Bryant either. Again, 16 teams, 32 QB's... it's a numbers issue. Some of those 32 QB's are also unproven, and might not be starters even next year. Bradford, unless he's another J Russel gives me a starter. Even Carr was a starter for several years as a bust. QB's are a commodity. 16 team league. people hoard QB's.Why not just trade the pick for a proven QB if you are that desperate for one? Again... 16 team league? I already know the answer. No. Altogether different in a 12 team league. Apples and oranges. In my 1 QB leagues you could probably get Peyton Manning or any other QB except Brees or Rodgers for Dez straight up.Why not just trade the pick for a proven QB if you are that desperate for one? I missed that it's a 2 QB league. In that case Bradford is reasonable with the 1.02.Top 5 QB? Not in this league. Top 15, maybe. It's a start one QB sixteen team league. You can roster as many QB's as you want, and some teams have 3 starting QB's rostered. All the backups are rostered too. My taxi squad alone has the likes of Teel, (SEA), Thigpen, O'Connel... and I have Pennington, Clemens, Wallace and Bulger rostered. Would it be smart to make a playoff run with only Alex Smith? That's an automatic bye week zero, and if he gets hurt... I have no QB. The owners with 3 starters want to rape and pillage to give one up, and then it's a lousy QB. Ray Rice for J Freeman? I don't think so. OK, I'll bow out now and let the thread get back on topic. I wish I was sitting on two starting QB's, even a Smith and Henne would let me take Bryant. Heck, even if I had Delhomme and Smith, I'd take Bryant, since I have Wallace. That would leave me with no QB locked up for next year, but I'd do it anyway. I hope Bradsford turns into a stud.... like I siad, I may regret the choice, it might be golden, on the other hand I might be kicking myself when the NFL lockout starts.I missed that it's a 2 QB league. With your league rules, there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking Bradford where you did. 16 team league. If you think Bradford is going to develop into an upper echelon qb (like I do), then it is a nice pick in that format. It's a start one QB sixteen team league. why do you think it's a reach? Seems right where he should be going.Looks like alot of people are reaching for Golden Tate in the first.
A lot of receivers better than him in the draft. I would also take Clausen and Gresham before.why do you think it's a reach? Seems right where he should be going.Looks like alot of people are reaching for Golden Tate in the first.
There is a lot of data that says he is not a reach. While you might not like him, if the majority of owners are taking him somewhere around 1.08-1.10, then he is not a reach.A lot of receivers better than him in the draft. These opinions are things I like bringing back up in a few months. Knowing Carolina Clausen may not even see the field this year.A lot of receivers better than him in the draft. These are dynasty drafts. Not redrafts. I could care less if the rookie I pick isn't fantasy relevant the first year. There are plenty of players in this draft who will have fantasy average stats and fantasy average careers. I want to find the players that have talent, even if the opportunity isn't immediately there (i.e. Ray Rice, Deuce McAllister, Shaun Alexander)These opinions are things I like bringing back up in a few months.
