did anyone who watched Dirty Money ep 2 feel any sympathy for Scott Tucker, et al?  Seems like they tried, but I didn’t.  These payday loan predators make me sick.
#### no.

They tried, but there was no convincing reason why.  "We're doing what everyone else does."  "There was nothing illegal about using a native american reservation to cover our ### legally in certain states."

#### this guy and his lawyer.

Definitely a "Love it!" or "Hate it!" show, and I'm on the "Love it" side of things..

Season 2 of Santa Clarita Diet coming!

I'd link to the trailer, but DEFINITELY Not safe for work parts.. YouTube is your friend "Santa Clarita Diet | Season 2 Official Trailer"

:lmao:

I was scared off, thinking it starred one of the Olsen twins, then googled it and saw she’s actually the younger sister of the Olsen twins.  Might give it a chance now.
Just watch it immediately. You'll love it.

I'm not even sure they tried to make him seem sympathetic.  Maybe it was because I knew the story already, but I felt like they were highlighting was a doosh he was when they were talking to his daughter in the kietchen and she was saying how good of a person he was.  Then they pan to him and he has this smile on his face.  Maybe we are supposed to think he was this proud pappa or something, but all I could imagine going through his weasley little brain was "ahh, another one duped."

Plus, that poem she was reading that she apparently wrote about her dad was completely her talking herself into being able to still believe in him.  Poor kid.

Yes, these studies were also wildly unethical.  Anyone trying to replicate these studies would be sued into the ground.

To be clear, I'm not saying that I'm surprised people went along with it (the Holocaust and the Milgram experiments have shown that), I'm saying that I'm shocked this guy is getting away with it.  It's so harmful to do this to people.  It's disgusting.
:goodposting:

I wasted a half-hour last night watching the first half of The Push.  It was terrible and mostly made me want to punch Derren Brown. It's everything that's bad about reality tv (exploitative, feels fake) with none of what's good (the people being exploited kind of deserve it, boobs).

I googled today to see how it ends and the article made the point that the process kind of misleads viewers by winnowing out all the people who aren't highly susceptible to peer pressure.  They showed some of it, but you caught up in the story and forget that the guy (people, apparently) they picked wasn't random but is there because they did a bunch of work and figured out he (they) would be likely to go along. Brown pretends he's making a point about human nature generally but he's actually just making a point about certain people who are susceptible to peer pressure, which is a lot less interesting.

I loved Top Gear, but the guys were trying too hard in the first couple of episodes of the Grand Tour and it turned me off a little. I’m sure it gets better and I’ll check it out again at some point.
We recently got Amazon Prime and checked out The Grand Tour. My sons and I love it. My oldest enjoys playing sports, but not watching them. So, usually it is just my youngest son and I watching sports together. The Grand Tour is something all 3 of us enjoy and it is a great male bonding experience. My wife walked into the room while we were watching, watched for a bit and then left the room shaking her head.

Have you guys seen/heard anything about the 2nd season of Shooter becoming available on Netflix?

I've been meaning to watch The Office in it's entirety for a while and finally finished. Really enjoyable up until the last couple seasons which were pretty rough

Just watched riot in cell block 99 on Amazon prime. Maybe the most disgustingly violent movie I've ever seen. I mean I like Vince Vaughn and his character is badazz but there's really no point to this movie other than him crushing people with his bare hands

Mr. Robot second season is on Prime. I liked S1 well enough but, three episodes into S2, I'm dying. Please tell me it picks up steam because Malek's deadpan delivery makes it a challenge to enjoy it when nothing is happening.

It was like it couldn't decide if it wanted to be a full-blown 'Machete' style parody or not.  It was not a fun watch, which made it's running time seem even longer.

Watched Trevor Noahs stand up last night.

It was decent.  You can tell hes still "raw" with his stand up.   Some bits drug on far too long.

Overall though I enjoyed the hour

the show is amazing although season 2 was the slowest of the 3 seasons. Season 3 was amazing.

Honestly it's a good movie in that you'll remember it. You have Vaughn out of character, Don Johnson siting and a straightforward storyline with an odd musical theme. It's just soooooooooo violent, and realistic. You literally think you saw him kill the guy in person

Season one was an all-timer.  Had huge buzz and a critical darling.

Which made it odd when it completely fell off the pop radar in season two.  Even I just stopped watching after the season two premier.

Good to hear it got better.  Will pick it back up.

I think he's painfully unfunny on The Daily Show but is somehow worse as a standup.
I gave the Daily Show a week to see his take on it, and yeah, I just didn't dig it.  I'd seen his standup prior, and I agree he's terrible at that. Self-important in a condescending Terence Trent D'Arby kinda way.

For some reason that reminded me that there's a funny standup on Netflix called "Everybody Calm Down" or something like that.  He's not a belly-laugh guy like Maniscalco, but I was amused.

Also, I accidentally clicked on a spanish speaking standup once and now I'm bombarded with "because you watched 15 seconds of this person you can't understand, you might like this!" suggestions

the song i learned to dance (badly) to
Ugh. Dancing. I hadn't seen a live funk band in a long time. So when I went last Saturday night, I was reminded that there are people near the stage that are confused and think they are in the band. "Watch me! Love me! Call me pretty. Cover me in kisses!"

I watched "Tucker and Dale vs. Evil" this weekend. It isn't some award winning movie or anything, but it's a lot of fun and made me laugh. Takes the horror genre and turns it on its head.
Was this the one with the chipper shredder?

If you log in to Netflix on PC, you can remove items from your history, and I believe remove recommendation patterns.

We've been watching seven seconds. Such a terrible mess, with idiotic writing and characters/motivations that gets more stupid every episode. And yet, we keep watching.

Everything sucks is growing on me.  I feel like Homer the way I look at the "popular" blonde (looked it up and she's 21 in real life, so I am actually safe).  The acting isn't the greatest but I do think the situations are well written and a couple of the actors are pretty good.
