Yeah I'm 99% sure it's the earlier one. I've watched it with him a bunch of times and never seen the other one. A completely different (and better, IMO) plot compared to the other version you mentioned. Note: Boris Karloff is in it too.

Never heard of this one. I love the early 1930s creepy horror movies.

I left it off because it is one of the best comedies of all time.
