    At NYC jury duty... AMA

Yeah, I'd question you and your family's decision-making abilities. That's just too many lawyers surrounding you. Can't really see how the criminology background would matter on a civil trial. It wouldn't be a big deal to me in voir dire.

    FTC bans noncompete agreements

It's nothing at all like that. Hopefully someone will be able to explain this issue in a way you understand. It is clear that you and I are not communicating clearly. Doesn't make you wrong or right, but let's stop wasting each other's time.

    FTC bans noncompete agreements

One is an attempt to freeze out other companies from an industry; the other is an attempt to freeze out workers from an industry. This issue affects 20% of the American workforce. There's no way it isn't an issue that can and should be addressed by the government. This isn't something a...

    FTC bans noncompete agreements

Are you ok with monopolies? Same idea, different scale. Also, once 30 million workers have become subject to noncompete agreements, it seems like something the government should be regulating. This is definitely affecting interstate commerce, not to mention life, liberty and the pursuit of...

From Fat to Fit 2024 - New Year New Goals!

Yep. I do planks and crunches in the evening watching TV. Jumping jacks and jumping rope aren't viable for me, but calisthenics in general are a good idea that I can add more consistently.

    FTC bans noncompete agreements

They affect a ton of industries. Two of my best friends are in security and insurance, for example. Both have non-competes that have kept them from moving to other companies where they could make more money.

    FTC bans noncompete agreements

If I can't seek employment at a competitor in the same industry, you can pay me less than I'm worth in the marketplace since you've narrowed my ability to make any sort of lateral or upward move outside of your company.

    FTC bans noncompete agreements

It's not all that nuanced of an issue. Businesses claim that they have invested in training workers, so they should be able to lock them up for a period of years or keep them from working for competitors for a period of years. Workers are unable to shop their skills to the highest bidder or...

    FTC bans noncompete agreements

Hope this isn't political. Seems more newsy that 30 million people just got released from noncompete agreements.

    FTC bans noncompete agreements

Wow. The FTC announced a rule banning non-compete agreements nationwide, and invalidating most existing non-compete agreements. Link There are some exceptions, like senior executives, and it is definitely going to face immediate challenges in courts, but what a major win for American workers.
