One album that I discovered from '94 after the fact, is Acid Bath's, When the Kite String Pops. Really good.

That's how I felt hiking around the Sierra, especially further south......Tahoe is cool, don't get me wrong, but the country down by Bishop/Yosemite (Whitney, Little Lakes Valley, etc ...) is a postcard around every corner.
-Various spots along the eastern front of the Sierra (NV/CA)
-The Metolius River/Camp Sherman
-The lower Deschutes River canyon
-various spots in eastern Oregon mountain ranges, and desert.
I will also say I did a fair amount of exploring in central Nevada when I lived in Reno area.....about as...
Reading this now. I'm maybe not quite a quarter of the way in.....I'm at the part where's he's following Frank Dunning in Derry.
So far, I'm enjoying it quite a bit. It's kind of got a nice, slow, steady pace, but not boring by any means. I'm sure that will change....lots of book left.
