This passive aggressive nonsense doesn't work on me. If you think that allowing a kid to transition is being a bad parent, come out and say so. Instead, you come at me with this garbage. Take it somewhere else. You're way out of your depth here and incredibly out of line.

Some people think they know everything about parenting the way that internet tough guys seem to know everything about fist fights.

This is the thing. Your "beliefs" don't get to take precedence over  my rights as a parent, my kid's rights to self-determination and the recommendations of people who have actual scientific expertise in this field and volumes of research that overwhelmingly agree that this is the best course of...

Trust me when I tell you that those of us who are parents of trans kids aren't looking for any more battles than what right-wing legislatures are already throwing out there. For example, Alabama is trying to pass a law right now essentially criminalizing trans affirming care for kids. They are...

Depends where in Florida you're talking about. Certainly places like Orlando and South Florida are very LGBTQ friendly. Other parts of the state (starting north of Lake County up into the panhandle) aren't great. We've experienced some ugly anti-trans bigotry on 30A for example.

    Biden vs Girls Sports

Not just any people have "complicated it." Scientists and doctors who study it say that it's complicated. Just because you say that it's simple, doesn't make it so. But we can agree to disagree and move on from here since we won't find common ground. Appreciated the conversation.

    Biden vs Girls Sports

The point is that reducing sexuality to one simple biological chromosomal binary is reductive. There are lots of studies involving genetics, neurobiology and endocrinology showing overwhelming evidence that human gender and sexuality exists on a really wide spectrum. It's not just about...

    ******Official SCOTUS Thread******

I find this fascinating. Thanks for posting it. I'll posit that Ted Cruz is like a super-advanced computer nerd who finds that hacking into vulnerable systems is far more personally rewarding than developing something on his own. He's a brilliant sociopath. So in applying that to your analogy...

    Biden vs Girls Sports

Depends on what you consider "really rare". Current research suggests that it's somewhere around 1 in every 500 people or so. So, rare but chances are pretty good that we've all met someone who doesn't fall into an XX/XY binary, even if they themselves don't know it. I actually know of at least...

I'll ask Piper about this tonight as well. Should be an interesting conversation.

    ******Official SCOTUS Thread******

To a large degree, I think this is pretty accurate. I would also add the the more ridiculous and inflammatory the assertion in the culture war, the more that folks like Cruz are able to fundraise off of it with the publicity they receive for being jackasses. Which is yet another reason to try...

    January 6 Defendants & Discussion

Pretty much every attorney friend that I've communicated with in the past day or so has said variations of the below about Thomas's lack of recusal: "Any other Judge in this country that didn't recuse themselves from a case like this would be immediately investigated by the BBO. I just don't...

    January 6 Defendants & Discussion

I mean, the law is pretty clear about this kind of thing: Under 28 U.S.C. § 455, a SCOTUS Justice is required to recuse from a case not just if they know that their spouse has “any … interest that could be substantially affected by the outcome,” but also if their impartiality “might reasonably...

    January 6 Defendants & Discussion

Can one of you attorneys explain to me how Clarence Thomas didn’t recuse himself from a hearing about the release of January 6 documents knowing that his wife’s texts were almost certainly in the cache? I mean, do we even care about rule of law anymore if that’s allowed to happen?
