I'm not sure the tipping point, but he has me on no restrictions. He wants me to go back to him if my training capabilities start to considerably decline. I also have a watch which claims it can identify a fib. Heart attacks and a fib run in my family. My dad (a fib and quadruple bypass at...

I had A-fib at age 42. Kind of scary to be honest. Had a cardioversion and been on meds since with no issues. And plenty of hard workouts. Admittedly, I'm not a doctor and I don't pretend to be one either. (And based on your posts over the years, you seem to be very in tune with medical...

Thank you sir. Another magical London experience. The fans are crazy fun. I realized at mile 24, I like NYC and Boston a bit more because there are breaks in the fans yelling at you. In London, its pretty solid from mile 2 through 26.2. I recommend any marathoner at least try to get in...

I've run Boston 7 times and Monday was the absolute best it has been. I agree with @Zasada in his thoughts that the weather was ideal for the casual spectator to come out and cheer for a few hours. Perhaps Kipchoge running Boston last year brought a few more casual fans to experience the...

Running Boston for fun on April 15. Excited to see @Zasada experience his first Boston. 6 days after that, I'll lead a pace group at London Marathon. Then finally in May after nearly 10 months of nothing but PT and easy runs, I will begin my training cycle for a early September BQ attempt...

It was one heck of a journey to be sure. Although the Tokyo Marathon is "meh" amongst the majors, I will tell you, I absolutely love Japan. The people, the culture, the country -- all wonderful. Its my first time outside of North America or Europe and it has motivated me to try to travel...

Goal is to just finish. I’d love a sub 4, but will be fine if it doesn’t happen. Glute has been in pain the last 36 hours, so just hoping it stays in check. Thanks for all your support. Guys like @gruecd and @tri-man 47 were helping me on this thread (on the old server) back in late 2010 and...

    College Admissions Questions

Typically, COA also included non-billable living costs (books, travel costs, personal expenses -- pizza money, etc.) I'm not saying Vanderbilt isn't crazy expensive but the billable costs are probably closer to $90K as opposed to $95K.

Such a BMF performance. It's easy to run well when you feel good. But to get a Western States qualifier while dealing with gut issues for 70+K? Crazy strong mentally and physically. Kudos to you sir!

Shorter version of Goggins 4x4x48. Is it a trail run? Sounds miserable in the dark. But I have weak ankles.

Enjoyed the races. A few thoughts.... I agree. No idea how they dont all wear sunglasses.Isn't squinting using energy? Badass performance by Fiona. She is tiny....smaller than everyone else in that lead pack at the 10 mile mark. She was in definite pain for the last 5K. But she is tough AF...

    College Admissions Questions

Some schools are still considering the number in college. The Feds aren't using it for their calculations (for federal eligibility into PELL, SEOG, Direct loans, etc)., but schools can spend their institutional funds however they feel they want to....and some are being more generous to families...

Ugh. Hope you get this resolved and healed soon. Silver lining is this is the best time for downtime. Its cold, snowy, icy and lacks daylight. Hope this is the only bump in the 2024 road. Which marathon are you running?

Some families will benefit by the new FAFSA, while others will be hurt by it. Projections are that more students will qualify for PELL grants which are only available to the neediest students, so that's one barometer that says not everyone is being hurt by the new form.

I wish I could help you but I'm a general hater of treadmills. I remember reading once that the Precor treadmills were highly rated. At the time I read that, I was walking on a Precor treadmill at my gym. It was perfectly sufficient but I don't have much to add more than that. Good luck on...

14th Annual FBG Year-End Report - 2023 Your goals coming into the year, and were they achieved? 1. I'd like to attempt another Marathon PR in fall 2023. I honestly don't know if my PR days are over at the age of 52, but I will see. Definitely want to BQ. This was a fail all around. I didn’t...
