I am helping coordinate a scotch tasting for about 35-45 people. I'm thinking 8 bottles is the right number?
I kind of doubt most people will end up having 8 drinks of scotch, so some repeats are probably okay. But looking to go with a variety of islands (Highlands, Island, Speyside, Islay)...
For the Shark Pool to enjoy:

Enjoy!
I've written three articles in an attempt to untangle the messy relationship between workload and age. The first one is here:

And the next two will be released over the next week.
But I will probably...
Written by Christopher and Jonathan Nolan, directed by Christopher Nolan. Matthew McConaughey is the lead, with Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck. Michael Caine, and John Lithgow have supporting roles, too.
I'm in.

My article here: http://subscribers.footballguys.com/apps/article.php?article=stuart_projecting_receiving_yards_2014
Let me know if you have any questions or comments.
Suppose the NFL eliminated the extra point for the 2014 season. A simple approach would be to award 7 points for each touchdown, and allow teams the option to go for 2 and make that touchdown worth either 6 or 8 points. That's not the option I want to discuss, though.
Instead, assume the NFL...
Figured you guys would enjoy this. Neil Paine came up with a list of the top 30 fluke seasons since 1970, with fluke defined as the difference between a player's VBD in his best season compared to his VBD in his second best season.
Part I gives an introduction/explanation and #s 30-21...
My piece on projecting receiving yards for WRs is now up: http://subscribers.footballguys.com/apps/article.php?article=stuart_projecting_receiving_yards
The key word is starting point: this shouldn't be what you use to draft, but helps to inform a discussion of projections.
Receiving yards is...
Some fantasy football owners are very familiar with this concept. Others misunderstand it, or are simply new to the game. Here's my background and primer on regression to the mean:

I'm not SuperJohn96, but I took the liberty to create an NFL schedule in an Excel file that is in the correct proportions (I think) to print out and place in your wallet. I've also created a version that is easily read on your iPhone...
Seems like a good hire -- smart businessman with a background as a player and with personnel evaluation. It's impossible to know how any first-time GM is going to fare, but I think this was as good as the Jets could have hoped for.
In the wake of the Chip Kelly hiring, was thinking of what other examples are there. Here are a few:-- Mike Riley (Chargers 1999) - college player, assistant/HC for 24 years (last at Oregon State)-- Dennis Erickson (Seahawks 1995) - college player, college assistant/HC for 26 years (last at...
You are told that someone pulled a sample of 25 games where the quarterback threw exactly X number of pass attempts. You are told that you will win $500 if you can correctly guess the number of interceptions, on average, the group of quarterbacks threw to within one-tenth of an interception...
Going to be doing a series of posts in the Shark Pool titled "Make the Case", where we play devil's advocate and argue against the seemingly impossible to argue against.
Today: Make the case that Lawrence Taylor is overrated. It can be that he's the 10th best pass rusher ever instead of the...
Going to be doing a series of posts in the Shark Pool titled "Make the Case", where we play devil's advocate and argue against the seemingly impossible to argue against.
Today: Make the case that Joe Montana is overrated. It can be that he's the 10th best QB instead of the best QB ever; i.e...
I looked at 36 of the best RBs and charted how their production declined from their peak levels. On average, they peaked at age 26, before steadily declining each year after that, with the biggest dropoff coming between ages 31 and 32.
You can read the full article, which does a quick review...
Figured some in the Shark Pool would find this interesting. I know a lot of people are talking about the spike in TE numbers, and this hits on that.

Post takes a look at league average passing production...
