Will America ever have a Gen X President? Or, are we going to skip straight from Hillary/Trump to Millennials?
Defining GenX as people born from 1965-1980 inclusive.
With the Angels losing Garrett Richards and (maybe) Andrew Heaney to TJS, in addition to the rest of their rotation in shambles, the topic du jour is whether the Angels might consider trading Mike Trout in a rebuilding move.
So. what would your home team offer for Trout?
Note: Trout is under...
Just booked a trip to NYC with my two sons (ages 16 & 10) to see the Rangers play at Yankee Stadium in late June.
Any tips on getting tickets? Right now, the plan is to wait until much closer to game days to find something on stubhub.
Staying 4 nights at hotel in Manhattan (very close to...
Today is a great day to start a new thread for the 2014-15 season, as the ACC welcomes Louisville and says farewell to Maryland.
May we all keep improving.

In this year's AL MVP debate, many supporters of Miguel Cabrera's candidacy have taken to bashing the WAR statistic. I could be uncharitable and give my armchair psychiatric view on that, but instead let's just take a look at what WAR is.
Here are two links that attempt to describe WAR in...
Classes are starting up, and it's time to start the new thread. Let's go! And let's be friendly competitors out there.
EDIT NOTE: thread was originally for 2012-2013 season, but has now morphed into the 2013-2014 season.
EDIT 07/14: Thread for 2015 season now started
Scoring systems may differ, and stat recording was spotty or non-existent for a long time, but what would you say were the best IDP fantasy seasons in NFL history?
First time playing IDP, in a new league that is hosted on Yahoo. Working through some pre-draft rankings and saw these very odd Yahoo default rankings for DB, DL, and LB.
DB
1. Dominique Barber - Hous
2. Lardarius Webb - Bal
3. Justin Miller - AZ
4. Will Blackmon - GB
5. Eric Smith -...
I just got hooked into a new league with my neighbor. It has odd scoring rules, where QBs end up tallying 2-3x as many points as RBs or WRs. For example, Peyton Manning is projected (in DD) to score well over 600 points, but Chris Johnson is in the mid-200s.
I have been using VBD principles...
about half the time i try to catch a spring training game being broadcast on MLBTV, i get a message that it's blacked out. (On DirecTv, if that matters)
It's really annoying, and strikes me as a really bad business decision on someone's part. I just don't know who exactly to blame.
2nd in a series...
Hall of Fame Forced Choices - which of these players is MOST deserving of your HOF vote?
Premise: You have a vote for the Baseball HOF, but you can only choose ONE of each pairing. One and only one. Even if you think both are deserving of the HOF. Even if you think neither...
Hall of Fame Forced Choices - which of these players is MOST deserving of your HOF vote?

Choose Wisely
Been wondering about the effect of steroid usage on baseball stats, particularly that of Home Runs. Not entirely sure if we can figure it out with any reasonable certainty, but i wanted to dive deeper into the numbers.
The first thing i looked at was the # of homers per team (or, more...
The baseball writers will announce their votes for the Baseball HOF on January 6th, 2010. Votes are due by 12/31. Writers can vote for up to 10 candidates, but you are not so constrained above. Vote for as many or as few as you wish.
And make your case herein.
Who is/was the best Starting Pitcher named Mike (or Michael), if we set aside Mike Mussina*?
Criteria: had to be primarily a SP, at least 1 All-Star selection, and had to go by Mike or Michael (that left out Mickey Lolich, for example).
Poll lets you pick Lefty and Righty winners.
Purposely...
MLB Network has a series called Prime 9, with countdowns of the 9 best whatevers. The first episode i saw was the Top 9 Centerfielders of all-time.
