This fantasy diehard has always had Sunday Ticket. Last year I dumped DirecTV and streamed the Ticket through my PS3. Worked fine, only the occasional minor glitch (usually because my daughter is competing for bandwidth watching cartoons on Netflix).
So now comes news that for $99 I can...
My league just ran into a similar issue. One team owner played the St Louis D last Thursday night, then dropped them Sunday morning via waivers for a kicker that he put into the lineup right away. Clever way to maximize use of one roster spot but it nonetheless has much of the league in an...
Last year Myfantasyleague added a feature to allow including blind bid "dollars" as part of a trade offer. Of course, you have to be in a league that uses blind bidding for free agents to take advantage of this. My league adopted the feature last year and it definitely boosted trade activity...
Likewise, I'd like a further rationale from the "must fill your roster on draft day" proponents. Why? Is it a reason other than protecting players from themselves? Am I missing something else?
We used to have a requirement to fill rosters on draft day, but then realized that rule only existed to protect players from themselves. So now it has more of a wild west feel, makes things more exciting, and as it turns out it's not that big of a deal to have a team use waivers to complete...
Have you read the article (link below) - "The Saints Ain't Sinners"?
http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-hassett-saints-bounty-program-20120715,0,1284132.story
If the Saints truly had a pay-to-injure scheme then they were very bad at executing it. Even so, this forfeiture...
LT's accomplishments happened more recently than most of the other NFL players mentioned on this thread, when so many more millions of people have been playing FF. There are therefore many more total FF players affected by LT's incredible numbers, which I think has a lot to do with why he'd get...
What you've said here is profoundly true. I've been guilty of sitting through an auction for much too long thinking "these prices are ridiculous, I'm waiting on good value" only to miss out on way too many blue chip players and realizing too late I'm sitting on a pile of bid money with only...
Draft dominator has always been my favorite tool for finding valuations. Allows you to set your league's specific scoring design. And then you can even set it up to mimic what source your peers are using (magazines, CBSsports, etc) as you run mocks using DD.
Bill Simmons just published an article proclaiming LT the greatest ever Fantasyfootballer. Well written and thought out:

It's hard to argue with this. I personally would have gone with Priest Holmes only...
On the subject of FF books, I think it's incredibly sad that if you do a simple search on Amazon for "Fantasy Football", the #1 result is a teen romance novel. I thought for sure it would be "Committed: Confessions of a Fantasy Football Junkie". Which is also good, unless you like happy...
My league does a blended auction/serpentine and solved this very problem by decreeing that you can't win a player just by yelling the max bid first. Instead everyone in the room gets an opportunity to match that max bid if they so desire. And then the auction continues among those participants...
Too many leagues used the previous year's worst-to-first results to determine draft order. But this is rewarding 'bad behavior' and in some cases providing an incentive to throw late season contests to get a high draft pick next year and that is a nightmare scenario if it affects playoff races...
Binky, I've been running a blended auction/serpentine draft for years. I am interested in exchanging ideas/rules as I'm sure you know such a format has a unique set of challenges. You can PM me at Mel44mark@yahoo.com
I tried double-headers once in the opening week of the NFL season. I personally thought it was cool (and doing this will more closely align win-loss records with total points, which is arguably a better reflection of the best teams in a given league) but most of my league whined about being...
Best FF player I ever saw won our league of 14 diehards 6 out of 12 years and made the playoffs every year. And his 'secret' was obvious to everyone - he was the world's greatest ambulance chaser. He pounced very quickly whenever a league member had injury woes. He knew the other team's...
CBSSPORTS supports PPR for first downs. I use MFL, but it does not have that scoring option. For what it's worth, this is the compromise scoring scheme advocated by FBG's own Jeff Pasquino in his previously mentioned Points Per Deception article. Not sure if Jeff still supports this design...
I like this idea, props to you for originality. I've never been a big fan of awarding draft positions based on worst-to-first in the previous season because you don't want to give someone an incentive to lose/throw a game at ANY point in the season in an attempt to set themselves up for next...
