I saw the Neurosurgeon this morning, growth in my back is not cause of pain, his official diagnosis is SI inflammation and/or sports hernia. Sending me to an orthapedic for a 2nd opinion. Good news is he said exercise is fine as long as it doesn't cause pain so while running is out I'm getting...

Another quick update, radiologist reviewed my MRI (from like 2 hours ago)and not cancer. Next up a Neurosurgeon consult to talk about path forward. Now I can start to ask questions about running again, can’t wait.

Ok next update, MRI revealed a tumor/growth in my lower spine called a Schwannoma. Very rough 2 days from getting the call that I had some type of spinal tumor to seeing the PA who calmed me down and said not likely cancer and if it is looks isolated and can be removed. There’s also some other...

Went to a new Doc today, she thinks I might have a back issue which is presenting itself as groin pain.  In addition to X-rays, blood work and another MRI she prescribed prednisone to reduce inflammation. During marathon training I got a bad cold that wouldn’t go away, I was prescribed...

Still unable to run so reached back out to my primary doctor, he reviewed my MRI and referred me to a sports rehab place(physical therapy). They couldn’t get me in front of a doctor until August but I can see a PA Wednesday so I snagged that. Going to ask this PT place to recommend a primary...

After a month of no running, I gave it a shot this week.  I’d barely call it running, 2.5 miles at an 11min pace and immediate pain. So frustrating. Need to find a doctor who can help me figure this out. Bike causes no pain so lots of biking in my future.

I appreciate your responses, with hernia ruled out I’m confident this a muscle thing and looking for ideas on how to improve it. Today is 2 weeks from my last run, light bike riding to start tomorrow and I’ll continue icing and start to figure out rehab plan.

MRI results show no hernia, excited to avoid surgery.  Going to try light biking for a few weeks(no running) to see if I can let whatever muscle is pissed off in my groin/abdomen some time to heal.

Got some possible good news today, hernia doctor doesn’t think it’s a hernia.  Couldn’t find a bulge(my wife has the same problem), sending me for mri to verify.  Thinks it is a severe muscle strain which is hitting the same nerve that a hernia would so mimicking the same symptoms. no surgery...

Dr google told me about a month ago.  I didn’t want to go to a real doctor and confirm until after the marathon.  The test run was uncomfortable but I could get thru it with that sweet finish line in my head and that rush of crossing.  Did some yard work last week and was in pain the next day so...

Turns out that groin pain is a small hernia, doc said don’t run the marathon next week.  Laprascopic(def spelled wrong) surgery is the only fix. good news I can still ride my bike, bad news it’s finally nice outside and I can’t run ☹️

I did my marathon test run Saturday morning.  Learned a few things, my HR strap chafed and drew blood under my arm, no bueno.  Pinky toe got a blister on the bottom, weird spot.  I think some of you lube toes, maybe I should do that? Goal was 3 hrs and 20 miles, did 17 and 2.5, my legs felt dead...
