Sure, and if you look on imdb Young Frankenstein is described using basically the same terms as Scary Movie.
I'm less interested in what another list has to say, I'd rather the people who listed them thought they were horror. So I have specific questions. First would be....
If Young...
At the end of the day, I am just glad for this exercise so I was forced to think more about what I consider horror. I like having something to debate or think about when watching movies.
Also, we are all coming at this from different POVs too. I get the impression we have some hardcore...
Stuff like Black Swan and Se7en I can see. If you are also talking about Young Frankenstein and T2 being in the bolded, I would like to see evidence of that, and that would be surprising to me.
I just watched the one scores posted and it does a good job of giving the glimpses but not too much. Am I remembering correctly that it doesn't really let up once they get to that restaurant scene?
I think the trailer is a decent glipse of what you will encounter. There is not much down time at the start, and it doesn't let up much when it gets going. It's something else.
I agree - it's all that and more. In my old age I've lost a bit of my tolerance for gore, especially if I feel it's just for gore's sake and being extreme. Some of the French extremity stuff I have more tolerance for because I think there is more "there" there, if that makes sense. I...
I am with you for the most part, but we seem to disagree now on Lambs. For me sci fi, action, and comedy movies have a higher bar to clear - just having a gory scene or something stalking people doesn't make it horror. Yes, Predator has skinned people and a stalking alien. It also has a...
But that also completely changes the tone and style of movie when we move it from the realm of elite force military dudes and action sequences in the jungle to helpless teens at summer camp.
IMO it's intent and if it's always for laughs. If a movie scares me or not rarely comes into play because most don't scare me in the first place. I think Young Frank is clearly in the spoof category - it's a better version of Scary Movie. To me that is a huge difference from other big name...
Pretty sure we are thinking of the same one. It was in my (unsubmitted) top 10. There is another one that was shot in Detroit, but can't remember if it was set there in the movie.
I get that, and agree the story is focus on him. Well, and his partner while they do their dectective work and mop up after the killer. ;)
Let's be clear, I am nitpicking and just attempting to put my thoughts down. As I said, IMO it's as close as a thriller/detective movie gets to a...
But that's only a part of it, as I posted. As I read your post Zodiac popped into my mind. We wouldn't have had to see the violence, but if it had scenes like Zodiac or Silence where we are there with the people as the killer is stalking them, it would have crossed that line. To me a big...
 That was the worst horror movie I had seen in a very long time. Then I saw the newest Children of the Corn movie and it got bumped off the podium.
