2024 New York Football Giants (hello darkness my old friend) (7 Viewers)

I would love for them to start building from the trenches out. The least sexy pick at #6 will be Joe Alt, then get the best WR available like Keon Coleman in the second round.
Until the Giants can improve their historically awful offensive line, it just won't matter who they pick. My prayer? Trade up and pick the 10 best offense line guys. Any position on the line.

Ok, I am being a little silly about getting 10 oline in the first 5 picks, but I am serious about not caring at all who they pick until the line is fixed. You could pick Jerry-Terrell-Marvin Rice-Owens-Harrison and he will "suck". He'll wonder where the ball is cause he is 50 yard open. He'll look back and see the QB being carted off the field cause he was broken in half due to yet another ole "block".

Malik Nabers/Jalin Hyatt/Wan'dale Robinson in the slot. Let's do this

Now you focus on Michael Penix Jr. or Bo Nix. Giants will have to trade up from the 2nd to get one of them.

I wanted the Giants to trade up for Penix once they drafted Nabers, I was surprised Atlanta picked him. I do not want them to trade up for Nix. If he falls fine but don't trade up for him.

One is 26 and the other is 27. I know neither is our long term answer. However, it not like either are Zach Wilson. Both have shown they can play ball in the league.

... has Jones really shown that?

He was the #6 pick and we have to debate whether he's a legit NFL starter. He just lost his best crutch in Saquon Barkley, and now it's going to be on him.

As much as we all loved Saquon ... was he really that good?

Ironic that Tommy Cutlets probably saved Daniel Jones job, for now. A sixth chance to show what the majority of fans don't think is there.

Clear that it was a Maye trade up or WR, seems the Pats wanted too much. Grain of salt, but it's been reported that the 2025 1st was included in the Giants offer.

Is it too much to ask for an average offensive line this year?

I still think Giants should try Neal at LG ... They have proven Commodoties at RT and RG with Eluemunor and Runyan.
Let Neal battle it out with Aaron Stinnie, who is currently penciled in as the starting LG ...That's not good !

Giants looked to sure up the back end of the defense on day two.

They took Tyler Nubin S Minnesota in the 2nd round and Andru Phillips CB Kentucky in the 3rd round

I like both picks from the limited tape I saw on them and investing in CB is never a bad thing. Giants lost a lot of power in their secondary the last 2 years.

EDIT: The only issue was there were better safeties rated on the board, so Giants were picking a type of saftey over talent.

CB was the #1 need IMO so it's good to see them take one in the 3rd. There weren't any worth taking at 6 and there was a big run on them before they could pick in the 2nd round so this seems like the right place, without making a trade.

2 - Tyler Nubin was the highest rated Safty in the draft and 1st Safty off the Board ... Seems like a great pick to me
3 - Andru Phillips - OK pick ... TJ Tampa might have been a better pick ... most have him rated higher than Phillips

Maybe they can still get Tampa in the 4th

Should the Giants take Rattler if he is there in the 4th ?? I have a feeling Seattle might take him with the 2nd pick in the 4th
I think Rattler would be the perfect QB to sit behind Jones for a year or two!

Dont love the pick of TE - Theo Johnson ... He's a project with potential to be a starter one day. He wasnt very higly rated anywhere I see.

Giants tend to reach for projects as the draft goes on ... I'f rather try to land a highly rated player like Tampa or Rattler that has slipped

Round 4 ESPN pre-Draft Analysis for TE Theo Johnson, Penn State:

Pre-Draft Analysis

Johnson's statistical production didn't match his talent at Penn State, but he has the traits to be more productive in the NFL. He put on a show at the combine, where he ran the second-fastest 40-yard dash out of the tight ends (4.57). He flashes the ability to make plays down the seam and averaged 16.4 yards per catch in 2022. Johnson is a big target with long arms and big hands to snatch the ball out of the air. He has the frame to cover up defenders in space, too, and he's a competitive in-line blocker -- and can get even better there if he improves his technique. -- Steve Muench
I get he's Darren Waller Insurance, but I would have loved to see them nab the guy one pick later, CB Khyree Jackson. Tall (6'4!) press corner who won't be overwhelmed by the big receivers in the division. To be fair, it's not like Daniel Bellinger is pea soup. If Waller retires, Bellinger starting isn't some turrible notion.

Guys at Big Blue Banter love Austin Estime despite his high 40 time ... they were hoping that would allow him to drop to the 5th
Another one down

Like the RB pick in the 5th ... They got pretty lucky this was really the only decent RB left on the board.
The LB was the Giants typica late round throw away pick ... will be useless if he even makes the team ... best case as a special teamer
They should have drafted Milton here but of course the boring Giants took a potential special teams player
The PATs took a chance on Milton even though they drafted Maye

... Giants 2024 Draft is over:

RD (PK) - Player - School - POS

It feels weird they didn't get one O-Lineman, but they're drafted so many and brought in some good Free Agents so I'm not mad. It'll be interesting to see how Nubin is used since there were better "all-around" guys available. They did draft a CB, albeit a smaller guy in the 3rd. Theo Johnson is the intriguing pick, he's a classic case of "if he plays up to his measurables as a TE he'll be a steal". I kinda don't like RB in the 6th because the Giants have so many young RBs (Gary Brightwell/Eric Gray) and haven't developed any of them; that's a spot maybe you take a shot at OT/OG. In the 7th if Muasau can develop into a cover LB that'll help the depth greatly. People are killing the pick online due to his apparent lack of acceleration.

All in all, the Giants did an OK job; they tried to get Maye but the Patriots were never serious about trading the pick unless Giants massively overpaid. They had no chance to trade up because Atlanta broke the market and Denver followed suit (Bo Nix at #12??? :lmao: ). Hopefully Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito can develop into more this year because short of Jones morphing into Mahomes, he's going to get benched towards the end of the year (protect themselves from the injury clause in the contract).

Seems like the Giants are putting a lot of faith in Carmen Bricillo to bring out the best in the young guys on the OL (Ezudu, JMS, McKethan and Neal) who have not had the best coaching since coming into the league. And on the vets they signed vets Runyan, Eluemunor, Stinnie, Schlottmann, and Nelson

So I can understand why they didn’t draft anyone on the OL.

I pray this faith is well founded. I don’t share it. I fear that this draft will come back to haunt. I feel they are trying to build from the outside in.

- signed someone who is/has been disgusted by the crap play of the oline for a decade plus now.
