This is another I downgrade because of its use of too many major Hollywood stars. Breaks any sense of immersion for me. Despite this, Gary Oldman was a pretty unique and terrific Dracula.
Gary Oldman carried this movie start to finish.

But my god was Keanu and Wyonna unbearable.

Keanu’s english accent maybe the worst attempt at being english on film I have ever heard….like literally he loses the accent halfway thru the film and sounds like Ted. And I am a huge Keanu fan. Total miscast.

Wyonna? Oooof awful and also not a fan of her at all.

This is Oldman’s show and for that it did not sniff my top 75 because the other players were terrible.

Sir Anthony Hopkins also rang hollow as Dr Van Helsing. Meh.
Wynona was hot af in that movie.
Meh…..she does not do it for me at all. Never did.

This is a hidden gem that I feel a lot of you will love. This is another that left me a bit shook after watching. Just please, for the love of god, this is one where you have to watch the international original, not the American remake. And go in as blind as you can.

Love it! The whole cast shines in this and it is a romp! My son and I have seen just about all the sequels(I think there's 57  ...) and while the budget keeps shrinking they keep the corniness and earnestness alive.

I thought this was pretty good but I was a bit disappointed after seeing the director's previous movie, Blue Ruin, which was incredible. It was fun seeing Patrick Stewart in a role like this but it did take me out of the story a bit.

Also love tremors, watched it with my kids while back, think we got to part 3 maybe

What a great rebound from the dreadful and now completely comedic Nightmare On Elm Street 2 Freddy's Revenge. There is a great documentary on Netflix I believe (or Shudder) about the lead male in this. Really good watch and it clues you into why even at age 15 (1985) I knew this guy played for the same team. LOL This confirmed it. And full disclosure....I don't care....but back then it was taboo. This brings it all into focus. It's a very good doc.

Anyway onto Dream Warriors. It's a great sequel that completly dismisses part 2 like it never happened. Back then the effects were great. Freddy has the best one liners in his history in Part 3.

I would also tell you part 4 was a very solid sequel to part 3 and then it's all downhill till we get Wes Cravens New Nightmare (really good meta sequel).

Dokken rocks!!!!

bet I can also find dozens of posts by people who think the earth is flat, doesn’t make it so

Right but there are many many more people who say the earth is round. And from what I can see, there are many many more people who count these Korean thrillers as horror than there are who don't. Bad analogy to begin with though. You're talking about something objective (earth is round) vs. something subjective (is it horror)

One of my absolute favorite films. Did not consider it for horror
I considered it. Loved the movie but didn't feel it fit the genre either.

Maybe just update it to a horror + thriller countdown

No need. The general consensus I've seen on the internet is to include these fringe movies into the definition of horror. If it wasn't I'd be as restrictive as you want it to be.

It's definitely subjective to an extent and a case by case basis, but I said from the beginning this will lean to be more open than restrictive.

I agree here, but I also think Nightmare is the main franchise of the 80s that holds up the least. The idea is awesome, but once we get to Freddy quipping all the time and Power Gloving it up, it's gets pretty bad.

I agree. In terms of slashers as a franchise, for me it's Friday the 13th > Halloween >>>>>>> Nightmare on Elm Street.

Individual movies from each franchise I'd go Halloween > Friday 13th Part 2 >>>>>>>> NOES

Ranking the "killer" from each, for me it's Michael Myers > Jason >>>>>> Freddy

So, I liked this movie enough and was super glad all the main characters died because they were annoying f%#ks but I got motion sickness halfway through and had to pause for a bit. The shaky cam was overdone and made me actually nauseous but the climax shot was different and kind of cool.

When I think about it, what the 80s did the most wrong is make it so the killers were the main focus and who people started cheering for. At that point the tension leaves (because who cares about the annoying no-name teens), and we have to think of ever increasing dumb ways to bring these killers back to life. Telekinesis? Really?

Decent found footage. Main guy is definitely the villain. He causes all of his friends to die. All to save a girl that for most of the movie, should already be dead. I agree that all of the characters sucked, but the brother seemed fine.
