Also, my basic process for allowing/disallowing movies was essentially searching reddit or other discussion boards for "Is XXX horror?" Every controversial movie seems to have threads like this and if enough people say it counts, I allowed it. Makes it pretty open but there were some that did not make the cut.

I loved this movie. The first time i watched it was in the theater when i was in high school with a bunch of friends. They were huge Tarantino fans because of Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. None of us knew who Rodriguez was, yet. I went because they were excited, but I wasn’t really enthused about watching a neck tatted Clooney and a Indie director take their turn at Natural Born Killers. Then the turn happened and I was like a pig in **** and my friends were shell shocked. I loved it and they hated it.

Fun movie that turns on a dime and commits 100% to the bit. It's intentionally trashy and a little nonsensical, and you can trace a straight line from this film to Grindhouse. Obviously it's more "fun" than "scary."

Christ. Theres an even earlier version? This is what came up after some really bad looking 2012 movie with the same name.

Yeah I'm 99% sure it's the earlier one. I've watched it with him a bunch of times and never seen the other one. A completely different (and better, IMO) plot compared to the other version you mentioned.
Note: Boris Karloff is in it too.

I just watched this. It’s nice to see Walken before he leaned into his own weirdness, and it’s always striking to see how much Matin Sheen and Emilio Estevez look alike. The movie was decent, but there wasn’t any hint of horror. Maybe the book was horror, I haven’t read it… but the movie wasn’t.

Only just saw this about a month ago for the first time and really liked it. Holds up very well. Really impressive camera angles to enhance what could have been boring shots. The diner where he stops after the crash is now a French bistro. Dennis Weaver was great in it.
