SIGNIFICANT CHANGES: I’ve had a change of heart with regard to Donovan McNabb. Though he doesn’t run like he used to and no longer has Terrell Owens at his disposal, McNabb is still the franchise performer for an Eagles offense that simply can’t run the ball. No. 11 was too disrespectful a ranking for McNabb, who has been moved up to No. 7. ... I’m starting to think that if Steve McNair can stay healthy for the Ravens this season — a very big “if,” admittedly — he could throw up some pretty good numbers. The Ravens have a pretty fair offensive line, and McNair has a lot of pass-catching talent around him with WRs Derrick Mason and Mark Clayton and TE Todd Heap. McNair moves up to No. 18. ... The Bills could be on the verge of a QB shakeup, with J.P. Losman taking the starter’s job away from Kelly Holcomb, and Holcomb possibly falling all the way to No. 3 on the depth chart behind Craig Nall. None of the Buffalo QBs figures to have a great deal of fantasy value this season, but Losman moves up on the board and Holcomb drops significantly, though he still ranks ahead of the unproven Nall. ... It appears that rookie Tarvaris Jackson has passed Mike McMahon on the Vikings’ depth chart, so their rankings have been adjusted accordingly. ... The Cowboys’ Drew Henson has been removed from the board after the team released him Thursday.

SIGNIFICANT CHANGES: Even though a hip injury will keep him out of action for the rest of the preseason, Jamal Lewis moves up from No. 26 to No. 22. Lewis looked like his old self in the Ravens’ first couple of preseason games following a poor showing in 2005. ... With Domanick Davis still sidelined by a balky knee and understudies Wali Lundy and Vernand Morency looking sharp in preseason action, I’m dropping Davis from No. 28 to No. 33. He’s a big, big gamble at this point. ... A three-way trade sent bruising runner T.J. Duckett from the Falcons to the Redskins, who now seem to have an overabundance of quality running backs. Duckett will probably surpass Ladell Betts on the Washington depth chart and be the primary backup to Clinton Portis, who’s recovering from a shoulder injury but is expected to be ready for Week One. Duckett may also get some goal-line carries for the Redskins. I don’t think the trade does much to affect Duckett’s fantasy value, so I’m leaving him at No. 37. However, the trade makes it more difficult for Portis owners to use a handcuffing strategy, since Duckett and Betts could be used in tandem if Portis were to miss any regular-season action. Betts drops from No. 47 to No. 62 now that he’s no longer the clear No. 2 in Washington, and Jerious Norwood of the Falcons moves up to No. 43 now that he’s the primary backup to Warrick Dunn. ... The Jets also traded for a running back, acquiring perennial fantasy disappointment Kevan Barlow from the 49ers. Barlow should have little trouble moving to the top of the Jets’ RB pecking order ahead of Derrick Blaylock, Cedric Houston and Leon Washington. But since there’s still a great deal of uncertainty at the Jets’ RB position, Barlow remains at No. 41 on the board, while Blaylock, Houston and Washington all drop slightly. The 49ers’ Frank Gore, Maurice Hicks and Michael Robinson all move up accordingly now that Barlow is out of the picture in San Francisco. ... I suppose I’m compelled to give Mike Bell a bump now that Mike Shanahan’s pet project has turned in a good preseason game. He moves from No. 53 to No. 36, while Denver’s Ron Dayne drops several spots. ... Stephen Davis is said to be on the verge of signing a contract with the Rams and debuts at No. 100 on the board. ... The Bengals’ Chris Perry, recovering from ankle surgery, won’t be ready for the start of the regular season and falls from No. 42 to No. 60. ... James Mungro of the Colts has been removed from the board after sustaining a season-ending knee injury.

SIGNIFICANT CHANGES: Terrell Owens may very well suit up in Week One and explode for two or three TDs, but with hamstring woes continuing to keep him out of preseason games, I’m dropping T.O. one spot on the board, behind Chad Johnson. The first six receivers on the board are basically interchangeable, but Owens’ injury makes him riskier than the five receivers ranked above him. ... The Falcons acquired Ashley Lelie in a three-way trade with the Redskins and Broncos, giving them a No. 3 receiver to replace Brian Finneran, who’s out for the season. Lelie’s big-play capabilities make it hard to dismiss him entirely, but Atlanta’s wide receivers haven’t ever put up great numbers with Michael Vick at quarterback, and Lelie won’t even be a starter for the Falcons. No. 67 seems about right for him. ... Rookie Greg Jennings continues to be a revelation for the Packers and is threatening to take a starting spot away from Robert Ferguson. Jennings moves up to No. 49 and makes a nice sleeper pick. ... Sinorice Moss has been unable to claim the Giants’ No. 3 receiver spot, which instead will go to Tim Carter — for the short term, anyway. Moss is still the better bet for this season, but he drops from No. 61 to No. 71, while Carter gets bumped from No. 118 to No. 91. … Injury-prone Charles Rogers is nursing a bruised knee that could keep him out of the rest of the preseason. With no track record of NFL success and no indication that he’ll ever be able to stay healthy, Rogers drops to the bottom of the board.

SIGNIFICANT CHANGES: A small change, but I’m moving Ben Watson up one spot, ahead of Randy McMichael. New England doesn’t have a ton of talent at receiver, so Watson figures to be a key component of the Patriots’ passing attack. ... With Seattle’s Jerramy Stevens expected to miss the first month or so of the regular season due to a knee injury, Stevens falls to No. 25 on the board while his backup, Itula Mili, moves up to No. 41. ... Rookie Tony Scheffler has looked fantastic for the Broncos in the preseason and moves from No. 29 to No. 18 in the rankings.

SIGNIFICANT CHANGES: Stephen Gostkowski has earned the Patriots’ placekicking job, beating out Martin Gramatica, who was released. With Gostkowski looking good in the preseason, he moves from No. 17 to No. 14. ... The Packers cut Billy Cundiff, leaving untested Dave Rayner as their kicker, at least for now. Rayner ranks 30th on the board.

So, who's are they?
:goodposting: ...oh, and WTH is DeShaun Foster (starter) so far behind DW (backup and KR)? While I like most of the rankings, this "D.Foster WILL be hurt by date XYZ" reasoning seems flawed. I realize you can't predict a player not being hurt, but I'm not sure how people can say so definitively that it WILL happen either

(especailly given the fact that DF's injuries have been fluke broken bones injuries - i.e. not a chronic knee, groin, hammy, etc.)

That comment has been covered several times over.In short, prior injuries increase the risk of future injuries (scientifically proven).

No, it's not scientifically proven. Not unless you look at every type of injury specifically.

Generically, it seems to increase the risk by about one or two expected games. So a guy who's never been injured might be expected to play 14 or 15 games next year, while a guy with a distinguished injury history might be expected to play 13 games.More detail here.

The answer may be different for different kinds of particular past injuries.

I think this list emphasizes youth too much and assumes too much injury.

Examples:

Bush at 7

Addai over Rhodes :o

DWill over Foster :o

Dillon and Maroney so close

Fitz #1 over the proven WR (Owens, Harrsion, Holt, Johnson, Smith, Moss)

Otherwise, I like the general order of players.

And why is Tatum Bell ranked 16 spots higher than Mike Bell?

Does this dude know something the rest of us don't?
