2. Viscous - Lou Reed

3 - You Ain't No Street Walker Mama, Honey But I Do Love The Way You Strut Your Stuff  / Taj Mahal

4- Metal Guru - T Rex

5 - Come See Ablout Me - Buddy Guy

6- The Sky Is Crying - Freddie King

7- Sailin' Shoes - Little Feat

8 - Superfly - Curtis Mayfield

9 - You Can Leave Your Hat On - Randy Newman

10 - It Doesn;t Matter, She Was Just Looking at You - Stephen Stills

11 - Stack A Lee (Stagger Lee) - Dr John

12 - Midnight - Jimi Hendrix
I think this is my favorite list so far.Seriously.

Thanks, it really was a much deeper year than it received credit for.

I thought Curtis Mayfield - Superfly was taken? That really should have been drafted. I thought Love Train was 1973. Must have been at the very end of 1972. Thought John Denver would be snapped up too. I just couldn't do it. I had Honky Cat by Elton John and Jeepster by TRex left.

Still wasn't a great year for music.

i respectfully disagree about it not being a great year in music. also, "love train" was on the o'jays "backstabbers" album. that was '72. i would have definitely drafted "rocky mountain high" had i realized before the end of the draft it was '72.

Nobody took any of these 1972 gems, either, I don't think:

Mac Davis--"Baby Don't get Hooked on Me"

Melanie--"Brand New Key"

Robert John--"The Lion Sleeps Tonight"

Hot Butter--"Popcorn"

5th Dimension--"Last Night I didn't Get To Sleep At All"

Osmonds--"Down By the Lazy River"

Jonathon Edwards--"Sunshine"

Daniel Boone--"Beautiful Sunday"

Donna Fargo--"Happiest Girl in the Whole USA"

Dr. Hook--"Sylvia's Mother"

Apollo 100--"Joy"

Sly and The Family Stone--"It's a Family Affair"

Sailcat--"Motorcycle Mama"

Don McLean--"Vincent/Castles in th Air"

New Seekers--"I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing".

Mac Davis was a BIG cross over (country/pop) star back in the day.

The Melanie song, sucks, but it got a lot of airplay.

The remake of "Lion" was OK, but not as good as the '50s original.

Not one of the best 5th Dimension songs, they were running on cruise control now.

Donna Fargo's song was also unescapable.

Sylvia's Mother was a better song than Cover of Rolling Stone.

Sly was Sly

Vincent was a more touching song that American Pie

And the New Seekers sold a boat load of Coke all around the world.

Just for grins, here's a list over leftovers from my list to zilla (for those claiming it was a "weak" year):

1.12 You Can Get it IF You Really Want - Jimmy Cliff
Can't believe simey didn't call you on this (no pun intended).

After a preliminary look at '91, there is more stuff I know than I initially thought.
At first, I was thinking "no way" to 1991 ... but I'm going to look it over before deciding.

OK ... my first impression was correct. I'll watch the 1991 draft from afar.

How have we been setting up the voting polls?
Think it's been the lists from the first half of the draft face off against one another ... and then another poll for the second half.

i looked at this one, but everything i found said it came out in december of 71. really wanted to take something from it, but i figured it would be illegal.
You're illegal.
I don't see you two bickerers in the '91 draft. You guys in?
I haven't decided. Let me look at the albums that came out that year and call you right back.

Great pick on "Shanty Town". Although to be precise, it's Desmond Dekker, not Cliff.

Really? So Desmond Dekker should be the artist?
