What's a good short vacation destination (solo)? (1 Viewer)

Good luck getting out of Vegas or Nashville under 1K when you are staying 3 nights. Both cites are ridiculously expensive right now. It is hard to go to a casual fast food joint and not spend $50.

Vegas: I'd look into a hotel downtown or even Ellis Island. Way cheaper rates, but off the strip. Both are easy uber rides to the strip if you wanted to go.
Nashville: Last time I went we stayed at Moxy which is close to Kid Rock's bar, great location, rooms were a little small. Normally we stay at the Hilton for rewards, but it is a little walk away from Broadway.
I'm staying two nights. I've changed my budget to $1500 due to the concert which will run me about 200 for a ticket and guessing a beer is 20 bucks. Plus some extra for gambling.
Two nights at Excalibur (15 minute walk to MGM Grand Garden Arena where the concert is) looks to be like 250 total for the two nights (that does include resort fees I believe).
So far flight 260, concert 200, hotel 250, about 60 for airport parking and maybe 50 for Lyft rides.
Leaves me 700 for food, booze, and some bets, plus souvenirs of course.

The zombie burlesque show looks interesting.
Be sure to slow play video poker for free booze....otherwise that $ 700 won't last...beers bought at bars are now about $ 10 and cocktails $ 13-15
Stupid Vegas.
Anywhere to buy a 12 pack in a store?
there's a small store on the strip by the MGM. It's like a rite aid or something. I always used to go there for snacks and beer. Prices are more expensive but cheaper than casinos.

Your best bet for a 12 pack, or any other supplies you may need, is to stop at a Walgreens or CVS. Just north of Excalibur you'll find both; the Walgreens is on the east side of LV blvd, CVS is on the right, just past Park MGM.

I'll have to get me one of those beer hats or belts and carry some around with me.
Any of the casinos still do live keno? I remember playing 1 dollar keno and getting free beers while watching the giant cage of balls spinning. Good times. That was probably in 2001

There are plenty of CVS, Walgreens, ABC stores in Vegas where you can grab a case of beer and a bottle of liquor. The Excalibur even has its own little mini mart/shop in its mezzanine level next to where the buffet and walkway to Luxor are

Those little mini shops are nice. A 12 pack is likely going to be expensive there, but they have Voodoo Ranger Juice Force IPAs in 19oz cans for like $5. They're 9.5% ABV so it's a great deal relative to Vegas. I think I almost drank Mirage out of their supply last trip.

Oh for sure. I find them to be very convenient—and while these mini-shops are certainly more expensive than places like ABC or CVS—they are certainly a lot less expensive than ordering drinks from the casino bars. Definitely doing something like you did—targeting something that is decently priced with a nice alcohol content is certainly a plus move.

We always took a cab from airport, not an Uber, and had them stop at a market off strip, and get booze, beer, bottled water, whatever. Just tell the cabbie to keep the meter running. Might add 5 bucks to your cab fare, but you will make that up just in the 12 pack.

There is a WalMart Super Mega Something right next to the airport. Have him stop there before heading to your castle

I second this. I stayed at Luxor back in January and a well vodka 7-up was $9 on Thursday and I think $13 on Friday/Saturday. I popped a $20 into a video poker machine at one of the little bars they have strewn about the casino and ended up drinking for a few hours at a time while playing $0.25 hands. I'd pop a $1 into the glass the bartender kept the receipt in every time he poured a new one.
