Jason Wood

Zoo York
Arizona CardinalsGeneral Manager -- Steve Keim (Replacing Rod Graves) -- Keim was promoted from within to replace Rod Graves after spending a decade as a player personnel executive. Keim had been interviewed by other teams for their vacant GM spots, but ultimately he stays in ArizonaHead Coach -- Bruce Arians (Replacing Ken Whisenhunt) -- Bruce Arians parlays a fantastic run (9-3) as the interim head coach in Indianapolis into the final 2013 head coaching vacancy in Arizona. The long-time NFL coordinator will be charged with finding a QB to right what was an inept passing attack last seasonOffensive Coordinator -- Harold Goodwin (Replacing Mike Miller) -- Goodwin has been the Colts OL coach since 2007, and will follow his long-time associate Bruce Arians to Arizona, getting the bump to coordinatorDefensive Coordinator -- Todd Bowles (Replacing Ray Horton) -- It's hard to believe Todd Bowles will do a better job than Ray Horton given the nightmare Bowles oversaw in Philadelphia last year after replacing Luis Castillo at midseason, but prior to that Bowles was a highly respected defensive assistant and did a commendable job as the interim head coach in Miami in 2011Special Teams Coordinator -- Amos Jones (Replacing Kevin Spencer) -- The Cardinals have hired Amos Jones, who spent the last six seasons as the Steelers assistant ST coachBaltimore RavensOffensive Coordinator -- Jim Caldwell (Replaced Cam Cameron toward end of 2012) -- Caldwell took over for Cam Cameron late in the season, and was well known as the long-time Colts assistant and eventual head coach (replacing Tony Dungy). In spite of an extensive NFL coaching resume, 2012 marked the first time Caldwell called offensive playsBuffalo BillsHead Coach -- Doug Marrone (Replacing Chan Gailey) -- Marrone returns to the NFL ranks after four seasons as the head coach of Syracuse University, guiding the former doormat program back to respectability (25-25 in four years). Marrone is a former NFL OC, serving as Sean Payton's first coordinator with the Saints. Marrone has already gone on record as saying he won't call plays in Buffalo, but will instead seek a veteran play-caller as his OCOffensive Coordinator -- Nathaniel Hackett (Replacing Curtis Modkins) -- Hackett follows Marrone from Syracuse to the Bills, but was a Bills assistant earlier in his career. Hackett is only 33 years old and helped lead Syracuse to the top ranked offense in the Big East last yearDefensive Coordinator -- Mike Pettine (Replacing Dave Wannstedt) -- Mike Pettine, as expected, left the Jets to take the same role in Buffalo. Pettine spent four years in New York and was a Ravens defensive assistant (D-line and OLBs) prior to thatSpecial Teams Coordinator -- Danny Crossman (Replacing Bruce DeHaven) -- Crossman is a long-time friend and associate of Doug Marrone, and lands in Buffalo after being fired from the same position in DetroitCarolina PanthersGeneral Manager -- Dave Gettleman (Replacing Marty Hurney) -- A bit of an odd hire as the Panthers hire 61-year old Gettleman away from the Giants instead of the more well known and discussed Marc Ross. In any event, Gettleman is certainly qualified, having served as the Player Personnel director (until this year when he became a senior consultant) for the Giants dating back to 1999Offensive Coordinator -- Mike Shula (Replacing Rob Chudzinski) -- It seems like an eon ago that Mike Shula was the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide, not to mention his unremarkable stint as the Tampa Bay OC, but he's worked his way back into the NFL spotlight as Cam Newton's position coach and sounding board, and will hope to maintain continuity running the same system as outgoing OC Rob ChudzinskiChicago BearsHead Coach -- Marc Trestman (Replacing Lovie Smith) -- Phil Emery found his guy after an exhaustive search. Trestman is a long-time NFL assistant, primarily as a QB coach, who has gone on to win two Grey Cups in five years as head coach of the CFL's Montreal Alouettes. Trestman plans to call the offensive playsOffensive Coordinator -- Aaron Kromer (Replacing Mike Tice) -- Kromer comes over from New Orleans, where he coached the offensive line since 2009 (and RBs in 2008) and was the Saints interim head coach at the start of this seasonDefensive Coordinator -- Mel Tucker (Replacing Rod Marinelli) -- Tucker moves from the Jaguars to the Bears, and will have enormous shoes to fill as he tries to maintain the success that Lovie Smith established for nearly a decadeSpecial Teams Coordinator -- Joe DeCamillis (Replacing Dave Toub) -- The Bears replace one of the most respected ST coordinators with another, grabbing DeCamillis away from the CowboysCleveland BrownsVP of Player Personnel -- Mike Lombardi (Replacing Tom Heckert) -- Lombardi lands to top personnel job in Cleveland, as was widely rumored, based on his years of friendship and collaboration with Browns CEO Joe BannerHead Coach -- Rob Chudzinski (Replacing Pat Shurmur) -- The Browns hire Chuds after two years as Cam Newton's play callerOffensive Coordinator -- Norv Turner (Replacing Brad Childress) -- Even though Chuds is a play-caller, it looks like he's added one of the league's most experienced offensive minds in Norv Turner. Whether Turner will call plays or not remains to be seen, but he certainly has tremendous value as an offensive coach and game plan designerDefensive Coordinator -- Ray Horton (Replacing **** Jauron) -- The Browns should be excited by the acquisition of Ray Horton, who learned under **** LeBeau in Pittsburgh before coordinating an attacking 3-4 defense in Arizona the last two yearsDallas CowboysDefensive Coordinator -- Monte Kiffin (Replacing Rob Ryan) -- The 72-year old Kiffin returns to the pros after coaching with his son Lane for a few years in college. Kiffen is considered the modern architect of the Cover-2 and a huge number of his former assistants have gone on to NFL head coaching and coordinator roles. While the DC in Tampa Bay, had field eight Top 5 seasons and 11 Top 10 seasons in 13 yearsSpecial Teams Coordinator -- Rich Bisaccia (Replacing Joe DeCamillis) -- The Cowboys continue to poach the early 00s Bucs by grabbing Bisaccia who spent much of the last decade there before coaching San Diego's special teams in '11-'12Denver BroncosOffensive Coordinator -- Adam Gase (Replacing Mike McCoy) -- 34-year old Adam Gase gets promoted to OC after spending last season as Peyton Manning's QB coach. Gase has 8 years of NFL experience, largely working under departed OC Mike McCoyDetroit LionsSpecial Teams Coordinator -- John Bonamego (Replacing Danny Crossman) -- John Bonamego was one and done in Jacksonville, but has a very low bar to leap over in his new role as the Lions ST coachIndianapolis ColtsOffensive Coordinator -- Pep Hamilton (Replacing Bruce Arians) -- Andrew Luck is reunited with his college coordinator as the Colts replace Bruce Arians with Pep HamiltonSpecial Teams Coordinator -- Tom McMahon (Replacing Marwan Maalouf) -- In the game of special teams musical chairs, Tom McMahon lands in Indianapolis after being replaced in Kansas City by Dave ToubJacksonville JaguarsGeneral Manager -- David Caldwell (Replacing Gene Smith) -- Caldwell chose the Jaguars over the Jets, after spending five years as an executive with the Falcons. He replaced Les Snead as head of player personnel last season after four years as the direct of college scoutingHead Coach -- Gus Bradley (Replacing Mike Mularkey) -- The Jaguars landed Bradley after several other teams couldn't lock him down. Bradley, who spearheaded the Seahawks terrific defense under Pete Carroll, will take over one of the league's more moribund franchisesOffensive Coordinator -- Jedd Fisch (Replacing Bob Bratkowski) -- Fisch reunites with Bradley, who were both on the Seahawks staff in 2010, after two years as the University of Miami OC and QB CoachDefensive Coordinator -- Bob Babich (Replacing Mel Tucker) -- Babich has been with the Bears for the last nine years, as a linebackers coach and briefly as the defensive coordinator. He and Bradley worked together at North Dakota StateKansas City ChiefsGeneral Manager -- John Dorsey (Replacing Scott Pioli) -- Dorsey marks the 3rd Packers personnel exec in as many years to leave for a GM opportunity. Although it's a promotion, Dorsey will effectively maintain the same role he had in Green Bay, since Andy Reid will have final say on personnel and coaching mattersHead Coach -- Andy Reid (Replacing Romeo Crennel) -- Reid spent 14 seasons in Philadelphia, taking his team to the playoffs nine times, winning six division crowns, and going to four NFC Championship games. Unfortunately he only made the Super Bowl once and never wonOffensive Coordinator -- Doug Pederson (Replacing Brian Daboll) -- Pederson was Reid's first starting QB in Philly and eventually moved into the coaching ranks, serving as the QB coach for the last two seasons in Philly. Reid is the play-caller, so Pederson's job will be akin to what Marty M did in Philly, handle the implementation of the weekly game plan and serve as a teacher and second set of eyes on game dayDefensive Coordinator -- Bob Sutton (Replacing Romeo Crennel) -- Long-time Jets assistant coach, primarily focusing on linebackers, comes over to the Chiefs and will maintain a 3-4 defensive frontSpecial Teams Coordinator -- Dave Toub (Replacing Tom McMahon) -- Toub spent nine season in Chicago and is regarded as one of the elite ST coaches in the gameNew Orleans SaintsDefensive Coordinator -- Rob Ryan (Replacing Steve Spagnuolo)New York JetsGeneral Manager -- John Idzik (Replacing Mike Tannenbaum) -- Idzik was seemingly the last man standing, and takes over a Jets franchise in desperate need of a new direction. What's odd is that Idzik is not a scout and is principally a salary cap and business decision maker, which raises the question of whether Rex Ryan will have even more personnel controlOffensive Coordinator -- Marty Mornhinweg (Replacing Tony Sparano) -- The Jets fire one former failed head coach turned coordinator and bring in another one, although Marty Mornhinweg has reignited his coaching trajectory with seven seasons as Andy Reid's right hand man. Although he rarely called plays in Philadelphia, he did on occasion and had success calling the 49ers offense under Steve Mariucci. This means the Jets will be moving to a traditional West Coast offense, and begs the question of who will quarterback the teamDefensive Coordinator -- Dennis Thurman (Replacing Mike Pettine) -- Thurman is a former NFL cornerback and has spent more than 20 years coaching defensive backs in college and the pros, including six years alongside Rex Ryan in Baltimore and then moving to the Jets in '09Special Teams Coordinator -- Ben Kotwica (Replacing Mike Westhoff) -- Westhoff was well regarded in many circles, but retired this offseason (and was critical of the organization on the way out) and will be replaced by his long-time assistant special teams coachOakland RaidersOffensive Coordinator -- Greg Olson (Replacing Greg Knapp) -- Olson seems an odd choice as he's been an NFL offensive coordinator three times before with very little to show for it. But apparently Dennis Allen sees something in him, and is going to task him with revitalizing a moribund offenseSpecial Teams Coordinator -- Bobby April (Replacing Steve Hoffman) -- April has been an NFL ST coach for more than 20 years, most recently three seasons in Philadelphia, and will add a much needed discipline to a Raiders team looking to bounce backPhiladelphia EaglesHead Coach -- Chip Kelly (Replacing Andy Reid) -- In a shocking turn of events, Chip Kelly has decided to take the Eagles job after deciding to return to Oregon a week prior.Offensive Coordinator -- Pat Shurmur (Replacing Mart Mornhinweg) -- In one of the odder choices in this year's coaching carousel, the ultra-aggressive Chip Kelly has tabbed the ultra-conservative Pat Shurmur to be his offensive coordinator. Shurmur spent much of the last decade in Philadelphia as an assistant, before becoming the Rams OC and then the Browns head coach. Shurmur won't call plays but presumably will serve as Kelly's guide in all things PhiladelphiaDefensive Coordinator -- Billy Davis (Replacing Juan Castillo/Todd Bowles) -- In spite of utterly failing in stints in San Francisco, Arizona and Cleveland, the Eagles saw fit to hire Billy Davis to coordinate their defense and handle the transition to a 3-4 frontSpecial Teams Coordinator -- Dave Fipp (Replacing Bobby April) -- Fipp has been an assistant special teams coach for five seasons, three in San Francisco and the last two in MiamiSan Diego ChargersGeneral Manager -- Tom Telesco (Replacing A.J. Smith) -- Telesco is young (40) but has been with the Colts for 17 years, moving up the VP of Player Operations under Ryan Grigson last year. The fact Telesco survived so many different Colts regimes speaks to his credentials and ability to work with othersHead Coach -- Mike McCoy (Replacing Norv Turner) -- McCoy was one of hottest names in the coaching carousel, and the Broncos unexpected loss in the divisional round opened the door for him to secure his choice of jobs. McCoy has been praised for his versatility, crafting offenses with the likes of Peyton Manning, Tim Tebow and Kyle Orton in his four years in DenverOffensive Coordinator -- Ken Whisenhunt (Replacing Clarence Shelmon) -- The Chargers get a coup in landing Whisenhunt, who was seriously considered for the head coaching vacancy before Mike McCoy secured the role. Many thought Whisenhunt would either land a HC job or wait a year for another opportunity, but he instead joins McCoy in an attempt to reinvigorate Philip Rivers' career.Defensive Coordinator -- John Pagano (The Chargers have opted to retain Pagano)Special Teams Coordinator -- Kevin Spencer (Replacing Rich Bisaccia) -- Spencer lands in San Diego after being bounced in Arizona when Ken Whisenhunt was let goSeattle SeahawksDefensive Coordinator -- Dan Quinn (Replacing Gus Bradley) -- Quinn was named in some circles as a possible DC in Philadelphia to join Chip Kelly, because Kelly wanted a DC that was good at defending the spread and read option. Instead, Quinn leaves the University of Florida to head to Seattle, where he will replace Gus BradleySt. Louis RamsDefensive Coordinator -- (Vacant last year due to suspension of Gregg Williams) -- Jeff Fisher has had a change of heart and decided not to add Rob Ryan to the staff.Tennessee TitansOffensive Coordinator -- Dowell Loggainss (Replacing Chris Palmer) -- Titans fans are likely disappointed in the news that Dowell Loggains has been promoted to the OC role after becoming the interim OC late in 2012 following Chris Palmer's following. Loggains was the team's QB coach prior to the elevationSpecial Teams Coordinator -- Nate Kaczor (Replacing Alan Lowry) -- The Titans let Lowry -- the architect of the Music City Miracle -- walk and named Kaczor the new ST coach. Kaczor was an assistant ST coach in Jacksonville for a few years, and assisted on the D-line in Tennessee in 2012

Looks like Andy Reid is going to take the KC job, and that will likely mean Pioli's role changes or he's gone, too. Once confirmed the dominoes will start to fall. I would think Marty Mornhinweg will come along as Reid's OC and Assistant Head Coach, and that Pat Shurmur will take a role on the staff. Not sure I would see Juan Castillo returning to coach OL, unless he swallows a lot of pride. It'll be the choices on the defensive side of the ball that bear the most scrutiny, as Andy's choices there have been nothing short of uninspired since the passing of Jim Johnson.

I guess the Bills will be trolling the ranks of unemployed failed coaches for their head coaching job.

Jason - Would you add Carolina to the list. GM job is "vacate" as the current GM has an interim title.

1.01 Norv Turner
I kind of figured thay're waiting to see if Rivera is canned in Carolina. Norv has been too successful to be a candidate.Maybe some homers can chime in, but is Buffalo a "bad job" or is this a management issue. I would like to see them take a different approach this time, even if it doesn't work out.

Per KFFL:

Chiefs | Andy Reid reaches agreement Fri, 04 Jan 2013 08:06:01 -0800 The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to a contract with Andy Reid to be their next head coach. Lawyers are reviewing the contract before it becomes official.

Chiefs move decisively to add Andy Reid to a 5-year deal. Lots of rumors floating about who Reid wants as his assistants, but we'll have to wait to see who signs on the dotted lines. Brad Childress, Pat Shurmur and Doug Pederson have all been mentioned as OCs, although I would say Pederson makes the most sense because it would be a promotion for him and thus I'm sure he's motivated to take the role if offered.

Bills move quickly to sign Marrone, who went 25-25 at Syracuse -- which believe it or not is an accomplishment. Marrone is a former NFL OC so he's got pro experience, and was a surprisingly hot candidate even being mentioned as the clear #2 priority for the Browns if Chip Kelly said no.

Jets officially fire Sparano. Lots of talk about either Cam Cameron or Norv Turner as the replacement. Even though they're from the same coaching tree, the hires would be VERY different IMHO. Cameron has always shied away from taking risk, much to his detriment at times. Turner doesn't fear risk at all.

Rex Ryan confirmed that DC Mike Pettine will not return in 2013. It's widely believed he will become the Bills new DC.

My father-in-law texted me today saying he "heard" the Bears are going to interview Iron Mike Singletary. As a Bear fan, I have my doubts after seeing what Harbaugh is doing that Singletary couldn't. I'd welcome him on the defensive side, but not HC.Other than that, I'm hoping we land one of:Bruce AriansTodd HaleyBill CowherHaven't heard these names from anyone, just my own personal wish list.

Mike Pettine hired as DC for the Bills, and with that Buffalo becomes the first team to have all three major coaching vacancies filled.

David Caldwell chose the Jaguars over the Jets. That sets up an interesting dynamic in Jacksonville. Many local ATL folks say Caldwell and Mularkey were close while Mularkey was with the Falcons, but Jags owner Shad Khan has already given Mularkey's entire staff permission to seek other jobs. I still think Mularkey is probably out, hard to retain a guy after you've let his staff defect.

Telesco lands in San Diego. You have to think this greatly increases the chances that Arians also goes to SD.

Carolina hired Dave Gettleman as GM. It's the safe option, as he has tons of experience. Plus, he's 62 so probably thinks more like Jerry Richardson than the younger options, like Marc Ross.

Browns hired Rob Chudzinski
Chud's 'expected' to hire former San Diego HC Norv Turner as his Offensive Coordinator according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. My link

... Chudzinski, 44, who was coordinator of the Panthers, interviewed with the Browns in Cleveland on Wednesday in Cleveland. He's expected to bring former Chargers coach Norv Turner as coordinator, a source said. The two are close.
Norv Turner as OC, good news.Right now it isn't official but it seems very likely to come about with Chud as HC.

Monte Kiffin returns to the pros, as BIG D's coordinator. On one hand Kiffin is 72 years old and the league has fully absorbed the Tampa-2 scheme both in terms of coaching it and attacking it. On the other hand, Kiffin produced an incredible 11 top 10 defenses and 8 top 5 defenses in 13 years with the Bucs, and many of his former assistants have gone on to head coaching and coordinator gigs.

Sportig NewsMT @JasonLaCanfora: Chargers are nearing a deal to make Mike McCoy their head coach. Looks like it will be finalized today9:07am - 15 Jan 13Gus Bradley also flying in to Philly for second interview today, with rumors saying they may iron out a deal as well.

Bears nab Aaron Kromer from the Saints as their offensive coordinator, but newly hired head coach Marc Trestman plans on calling the plays.

It looks like Denver will promote from within. Per Rotoworld:Broncos named incumbent quarterbacks coach Adam Gase their offensive coordinator.Gase, a 34-year-old with eight years of experience as an NFL assistant, lands the job ahead of more established names such as Ken Whisenhunt and Tom Moore. It's a smart move by John Fox and the Broncos. Gase learned at the foot of departed OC Mike McCoy and spent "countless" hours with Peyton Manning this season. He'll call the plays in 2013, ensuring continuity within an offense that ranked second in points per game and fourth in yards per game this season.

Yep...already listed in the top post.

Whisenhunt hired as the OC in San Diego.
Can't wait to see this. The guy who was horrible at making (or not making) decisions at crucial times on offense is now an offensive coordinator. Atleast he didn't get a HC job to alienate another NFL team somewhere. What a fraud.

When Whiz had kurt warner he had a superbowl team, no one not even Vince Lombardi could win with the drecks that Ariz was trotting out their at QB/

As an Eagles fan it's very hard for me to see how Todd Bowles will be an improvement over Ray Horton, but I can understand Arians not wanting to keep Horton since he was another serious candidate for the head coaching job.

We're winding down the coaching carousel. Looks like the only open coordinator level spots are Dallas Special Teams (although Bisaccia is rumored to be named soon), Eagles DC (Ed Donatell is rumored to be the guy but nothing is official) and New Orleans DC (which just opened up as Sean Payton returned to his duties and promptly dismissed Spags and his top assistant).

Eagles have hired Billy Davis as their DC ( :wall: ) which leaves New Orleans and St. Louis as teams with a coordinator opening.
