I read they offered him a chance to just coach and he said no way
Lurie denied that in his press conference.
another incorrect statement by "journalists".

Shocker.
These are rehearsed and pre-written often times.Could just be "nah let's take that part out" and then he denies it

It does nothing for either side moving forward
Lurie was very classy during his press conference. Denied that. Denied he had lost the locker room at all. Didn't say one word that might make another team hesitant to hire hire.
If another NFL team does not hire Chip, the Eagles are on the hook to fulfill the remaining $12.4 million of his contract.

If I were Lurie, I would giving him glowing recommendations as well, and drive him to the interviews.

If Chip can accept a "coach only" position I do believe that he gets another shot and I think Bradford goes with him (unless it does turn out to be Tennessee).

Are we sure about this? I would think it depends on offset language he negotiated in his contract.
It's stated as such in most of the "Chip got canned" stories that ran the day of/after.

I looked and saw nothing stating that other than a story that if they mutually parted ways he would not get his money but so long as he was fired he got it all.

Not saying you are wrong, just don't see it plainly worded that way anywhere.

Bilichick came out pretty strong against it considering he never talks. Saying you can't build culture in a year and the players he unloaded aren't doing much elsewhere.

he's not wrong with that statement. but i don't think Lurie is a dummy either, there was more to it than simply a losing season

If I had to bet, I'd say he takes the Tennessee job. It just makes sense. Having had Mariota at Oregon and having a QB he knows fits his system. Plus, that franchise needs a spark. Who ever talks about the Titans? Nobody. But they will if Kelly is their coach.
He gets his QB and maybe the top pick, couldn't set this up any better. Just don't let him trade it :)

I wouldn't be surprised if he's fired by next friday

To me it seems like Chip thinks he's playing Madden and can just manipulate teams in trades. I think his whole endgame was Mariota, and he got :own3d: .
When Chip says "you guys think about what I think more than I think about what I think" you're the type he has in mind.
Guess he should have thought it through a little bit better. :own3d:
I wanted the picks and players.

It felt Herchel-like and I was oh so curious.

I had no misgivings that Whis would be gone, I thought he was gone in late 2014 but what type of team would they have had and have now headed into the offseason?

He got owned, I don't follow. Titans have the worst record.

I love Mariota and didn't expect to but here they sit with the worst record. You can ramble on about any young talent on their team but does the GM get one shred of good credit if he cleaned house and built what they have?

I like Bradford so I couldn't understand the 'stuck with Bradford' thinking any less. I don't think Matthews was all that great as a backup. He's the guy I think is noticeable that remained and may have been planned upon as bait. Murray wasn't included.

I think it's been proven that Kelly wanted to move a lot of dead weight on D, onto the Titans. He never reacted and either coached them up or made other moves to compensate. I'm not sure those players would have started on the Titans though. They were all set at LB and with Cox and McCourty they thought they were set at CB too. Searcy came from Buff, Griffin had been there forever. None of the traded defenders were expected to play.

It was essentially their 1st, Bradford, and Matthews for Mariota. Their first was WR, OL, DL territory and the Titans needed all that. Can you imagine Parker and DGB? or any combo of young wideout? Seems to me Matthews would have been better than any Titans back....again I wanted the trade for the Titans. I don't see how he was oWned though

Based on a lot in this thread I must be crazy, but I would think Cleveland or San Fran would be happy to hire Chip. I don't care for the Eagles, but over the last few years it was one of the more entertaining teams to watch largely because of Chip. I hope he is hired somewhere, personally.

As an outsider I dont think you can judge the Maxwell signing as a mistake.

He was highly rated free agent that ended up sucking.

I'm pretty sure everyone liked the signing at the time

We all wanted Maxwell and Mccourty. Didn't count all the guy mailing it in. That's the risk of FA.

Apparently, Murray did not forget how to play football. Someone should pass that along to Chip.
Basing that off the 1st carry for the 54 yard TD and not the next 11 for 15 yards and a fumble?
haha beat me to it
You guys finally showed up in here. Good to see youLong runs don't count. I always forget that
Great response for drooling over 11 carries for 15 yards.

He really showed Chip with his 60 yard game. I bet Chip doesn't sleep for days.

They do, but it was one wide open hole... the rest of the game he was awful. He was ineffective on 95% of his carries this week, but okay.

We "showed up" plenty. With about 160 posts in here to your 28. Nice of you to show up.

Either way, I don't think either of us are arguing that Murray had been used wrong. He plays much better clearly when Sam is under center.... we agree fully. But his game today was in no shape or form a 'screw you' to Chip. Had they ran him under center all game and he had a good game then yes it would have been.

the niners, lol

because the GM that could not handle Harbaugh's enormous ego and control freak nature will do so much better with Chip Kelly.

Sounds more like Kelly's chasing a job than like other teams are chasing him.

Chip Kelly wants to keep coaching in the NFL, and he’s letting other teams know that he’s interested. Kelly has reached out to the 49ers to tell them that he’d like to coach them, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Chip Kelly: 'Look at me'. Cannot imagine he gets another chance after the Eagles debacle. He's firmly a recycled loser if he does.

If Kelly doesn't go to TEN, I think he's out of work at the NFL level. His rep is terrible with the players. That would be a big concern to an NFL owner. No so much with a college program.

I could see Kelly at Texas A&M if Sumlin finds an NFL gig. A&M pays quite well.

Kelly in Cleveland or SF would be a cluster of the highest proportions. Two regimes known for their poor communication and dysfunction hiring a coach who was fired over poor communication and dysfunction.

Sounds like a perfect fit!

I'd feel, really sorry for Cleveland if this happens. Those poor poor souls don't deserve this ### whole.
I would think this would be exciting for Cleveland. Even if they have a bad team, it would be very entertaining for a couple of years, and who knows?
