Dicaprio was better in the movie and he's probably taken on more serious roles across the board (not always successfully). Has Depp ever been really great in anything, except maybe Pirates which was more of a comic, cartoon character greatly aided by costuming?

Big man crush on DiCaprio. Of course, in my house, we call him DIcapsicle on account of how he ended up in Titanic.

I love the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise so I won't bash Depp but Leo wins this for me.

Depp's 43 films have grossed $3.2 trillion, while DiCaprio's 24 films have grossed $2.3 trillion.I'm guessing the pirates disney empire is the difference, but Depp earned it. Sold that character big time.That is surprising to me

Dicaprio in that movie but Depp is the better actor. Maybe its just that i haven't seen that many Dicaprio movies.

You are missing out on many of the better movies of the last 15 years: Inception, Gangs of New York, The Departed, Wolf of Wall Street, the Aviator, Catch Me If You Can and Django Unchained were all great movies.
