question about returning merchandise (1 Viewer)

I just bought my girl a $100 calvin klein bag from marshalls. Ive never purchased something like this before and did not notice it had a scratch in it til I got home.

The clerk also ripped off all the tags and rang it up as just "accessory" and not as a CK bag.

Are they going to give me a hassle returning it?

What do you mean the clerk "ran it up as" an accessory, not a CK bag? They don't do data entry. They just scan.

well after you started an internet thread about him where you called him a liar and cocaine abuser after a confidential interview that was the only job the clerk could get so hey you caused your own little inferno there dante take that to bank

I didnt call that guy a liar.

He lied.

Not the same guy anyway.

The coke remark was more about 80's baseball

i am just busting your chops a little bromigo i will stop keep on keepin on and take that to the bank

If you guys really want me to use the noggin then I think rather than cause a scene at marshals, which I will do if they try to pull any crap, I should just take it to the cobbler and have him repair the leather for $10.

None of this makes any sense.

Your IQ isn't high enough to understand.

Agreed.

They still have these?

Perhaps you could see if the King's scribe could write ye a better receipt.

Yes we have a shoemaker nearby who repairs leather.

I likr saying cobbler much more than shoemaker because I dont want to think of the 3rd and 4th films of the original batman series with the rubber nipples, and I think cobbler just sounds nice.

As for the tags, there was only one tag on it which I assume the clerk ripped off because it had a price on it, and hopefully it was obviously a gift for someone.

Now I have nothing to indicate that the bag even came from them.

cobbler reminds me of my favorite wr randall the touchdown robber cobber or rt2rc as us in the know call him and if you had him with you i bet you would never have had this problem with your bag take that to the bank bromigo

Take it back to the store to return it. Make sure to have your receipt available. If they hassle you, explain it exactly how you did here. These guys are human beings, so treat them like one. However don't be afraid to ask for a manager if things can't get resolved normally. They tend to have the authority to help out further than a regular associate would. I'm not sure why the clerk would rip off tags. That doesn't compute. But even if he did, they likely have other "Calvin Klein bags" that look the same in which they can verify it's the same item. they might, but I doubt they accept a damaged bag with or without tags.

still trying to wrap my head around the salesperson taking the tags off. this has never happened to me.

My IQ may only be 175, but I bet that if the price of the "accessory" ($100) on the receipt, matches the price of the bag ($100), you won't have too much trouble convincing them.

I get the point of his post. The two key points are just that:

-Item has no tag on it because the clerk ripped it off, which means there is nothing indicating the store of origin.

-Receipt was rung up as "accessory" meaning there's nothing indicating that it was a CK bag.

If the store is OK returning an item in this situation, there's really nothing stopping him from trying to return something he bought somewhere else using the receipt he has. He could try and return a plastic murse from 5Below because it's an "accessory."

Like others, I'm shocked that a clerk would rip the tag of and not at least give it to you. I'll have to be on the look out for that in the future.

yes.

but what's to discuss here? try to return the bag without the tags, but with a receipt and damage- talk to the manager in a civil tone and explain what happened. if that fails (which it likely will), go to the cobbler.

 Einstein couldn't tie his shoes. Maybe MCGM just doesn't do well with customer service desks.

Thank you

It's really not that difficult. But the fact you took this long to return it will make things even more suspicious

I hear nothing but excuses. you are the type that blames everyone else but yourself aren't you.

Dont have the time. Im putting in 14+ hour days
You said you were making $35k a year?

That equates to 70 hours a week and about $9.61 an hour... Even you could find something better than this.
35k base with full benefits

I get commission

I am only obligated for 10 hours a day. I put in the extra time of my own volition
