Blogging the defensive FA movements (1 Viewer)

I don't get the blog for Malcolm Smith. It appears way too down on Sio Moore, who is much more talented that Smith. Even if Lofton arrives, I think Sio still retains the every-down role. Now the injury concern, that's another issue...

I like Malcolm Smith and Sio Moore. Both have their warts. I don't see either as a good middle linebacker option. ESPN's Bill Williamson speculated MLB for Smith, but I don't see it.

Signing on the first day of FA isn't just for high profile names anymore so this deal may not be a clear indication the team sees Smith >> Moore. Ken Norton knows Smith from Seattle, so it's not clear to me whether this was the only place Smith wanted to go or if he'd have had multiple suitors. And I can't find any contract particulars yet to give clues on how important the team feels Smith may be to their plans.

Definitely lots more to come on these situations. I'm mostly rolling with my first instincts on these blurbs.

CB Brandon Browner to the Saints.

Safety Rahim Moore to Houston.

Safety Nate Allen to Oakland.

CB Antonio Cromartie to NYJ.

Safety Antrel Rolle to Chicago

Schefter tweet: "Titans have reached an agreement with former Redskins LB Brian Orapko, per source".

and

Titans also have a four-year, $30 million deal in place with LB Derrick Morgan

Michael Johnson back to Cincy

Bengals signed RE Michael Johnson, formerly of the Bucs, to a four-year contract.

Jene, would you be able to reply here and bump there thread if/when more info is added? (not trying to rush ya)

O'Brien Schofield and Akeem Ayers: still will be listed as LB's?
I'm pretty sure Schofield will be listed as a DL, as he is more of a rush-hand on the ground type and Quinn runs a 4-3

Ayers I think will still be listed as a LB, but I'm not certain.

Foster is not good, but he is hand picked by the new guys that have no ties to Jones nor Bostic.

I'm not sure how to proceed. Generally, I don't like banking on bad players in March, that's more of an October practice, but this situation has me befuddled. Could say similar stuff about Ellerbee too.

so, I've just gotten around to my logging of all the personnel shifting and new rosters around the league, and I notice that green bay let jones, lattimore, and hawk go.

anybody have any idea what the plan is at ilb up there?

draft?

I have the Barrington-Carl Bradford combo cheaply rostered everywhere, but I'm wary they are after somebody like Kendricks.

I wish. Unless they draft someone high it may be Barrington and Matthews or Bradford. They drafted Bradford pretty high to give up on him but moving him inside may not work.

I'd wait and see who they draft.
