Sam Bradford for Nick Foles TRADE ! (1 Viewer)

One thing becoming somewhat clear is Chip is the only guy that wants Mariota. If he can get to 10 he can easily get him.

As a Skins fan, I really hope Foles is traded to the Rams. Starting to believe someone, if not the Eagles, will trade up to that 5th spot to take Mariota.

For what it's worth John Clayton was on the local ESPN affiliate here in philly last week and he dismissed the rumor outright.

so then its likely it might actually happen, since Clayton is near clueless most of the time. ;)

With the timing of this story, I figure "upped their offer" means the Rams have included Zac Stacy in the deal.

I agree with you. I am not convinced that Tennessee, NY or Chicago will take him. Though it would be huge gamble if just stayed at 10 and took him.

bradford gets released ?
If they do that, the Bears should jump on that and sign Bradford.
Bradford isn't going anywhere. He was consulted in the hiring of the OC and the QB coach. You don't do that, ignore the backup QB as a vote of confidence the year before, and then suddenly do a 180 and can the guy.

The line is the Rams want Bradford but they need better options behind him than what they had last year with Hill and Davis. So if they get Foles, that what they'd have: one of the best backup QBs in the league. But just because you get a really good backup, you don't suddenly say "You know what? Let's scrap the entire plan and shoot from the hip." They have Bradford. If they trade for Foles, then they have Bradford and Foles. Then they either draft a guy in the 2nd or 3rd round (hopefully Grayson) or just go with Davis and see what a year's seasoning does for him. Then they have their #1 overall, a short-term fix in Foles and a long-term plan in their rookie/Davis. It's the plan that gives the Rams the most options going forward.

Also, whether this is true or not, the reason you are hearing about it is because of the negotiations to restructure Bradford to a more incentive-based deal. We got the whole schtick from the agent about how Cleveland wanted him and Buffalo wanted him. This is the counteroffensive. Bradford and his agent had been digging in their heels, but now that they see the Rams have a viable option in case they feel they can use that $13 mill elsewhere, now they have to budge.

Not saying that if this rumor were true, the Rams would get rid of Bradford (i.e. keep them both), but it could clear the way for a trade to the Jets or Bills.

While I'm not saying these rumors are true, if they are do you really think that the Rams are looking to trade the No. 10 pick in the draft (even if they are only moving back to 20) for a backup QB?

Yeah, Foles isn't a world beater, but he's not a backup either...

Manuel/Cassel

McCown/Hoyer/Manziel

Geno Smith

Fitzpatrick/Mallett

Mettenberger

Foles is not a backup in today's NFL.
No, but you better have a backup since Foles hasn't shown he can stay on the field for a 16 game schedule.
Im OK with Sanchez for 3-4 games and draft Petty as your future guy. It's a win-win-win
So you are going into the season with a lame duck at starting QB? If Foles isn't your guy of the future you're better off trading him now while you can get something for him and just roll with Sanchez and a guy like Locker while you groom Petty.

No. If Foles is the starter hes going to get an extension. When people here extension they assume its something huge. He could get a slightly better deal than Sanchez got and that would be sufficient until Petty is ready.

It may not be "huge", but Foles would command a lot more than Sanchez.

Define huge? What type of deal would he command? An Andy Daltion or Kaep contract?

Les Snead is the GM that traded Robert Griffin for a boatload of picks. He should know that starting caliber QBs don't come cheap. and Call me crazy because I think Foles is better than Bradford.

I said it wouldn't be huge, but it would be a lot more than Sanchez, who got $5.5M guaranteed. I'd guess Foles would get more than twice that amount pretty easily.

Gotcha. Even if doubled that's nothing in QB land and I would be fine with that.
