Will Sutton, DE, CHI? (1 Viewer)

I'm sure we all will peek at the projections on MFL - I noticed that Will Sutton has extremely high numbers set up for him, but wanted to know if anyone had any reason why that might be? I thought he was a nose man who wasn't supposed to be anything special, but Gary Davenport seems to have him as a top-five guy.

His ownership has swelled to 3% (high for a guy like him on MFL) - any ideas as to why that might be?

I saw that a couple of weeks ago. I was puzzled too. Nothing made me think that it was remotely possible.

As a Chicago Homer ... I find that very curious.

I'll admit that I really liked Sutton coming out last year. He had a down Sr. year ar Arizona State, but when comparing him to Aaron Donald and where you could get him a dynasty draft he looked like a steal because of the following:

Will Sutton's jr. year when he played at 285lbs: 63 tckls, 23.5 TFL, 13 sacks

Aaron Donald last year: 59 tckls, 28.5 TFL, 11 sacks

Still, he needed to drop some of the weight and put it back together.

Then, this year, Chicago got a new staff and scheme change.

Everyone I know (personally), and all the beat reporters in Chicago, are really down on him because of his fit in Fangio's new scheme. Or, more specifically, the non-fit. Still, I am holding because if anyone can get it out of him its Fangio and Fox.

But, top 5 guy .... or. even as a DE sleeper ... I am highly skeptical.

I e-mailed Davenport regarding Sutton ... this is the response I got directly from him in less than 24 hours.

"The Projections haven't been adjusted yet this summer. Occasionally the computer model spits out one that's wonky. Sutton's a glitch -- didn't make my top 72."

Awesome dude.
