North Carolina shark attacks (1 Viewer)

Great, headed to SC next week. They're basically the same place, they both have Carolina in the name!

This board will miss me.

Ocean Isle is one beach up from my parents' beach house. I may be glad that I won't be able to make it when they're there in 2 weeks.

Damn. Going to daytona at the end of the month. I'm sure that shark will be down there by then. :(

Keep your arms and legs out of the water. You will be fine. Well that and put a confederate flag sticker on your car.
As soon as we pass through Northern VA from Maryland, the checklist is:

gas up car

bathroom

food

Obama sticker off, southern cross sticker on

You better get used to calling that the "Rebel Flag," or somebody will out you as a fake. Also, be sure to refer to the Civil War as the "War of Northern Aggression" too.

and the war isn't over, just a temporary cease fire.

I thought I would show the locals I was an insider by saying Southern Cross, it's a famous song!

I hear you on the WONA though. Damn Yankees!

Funny how local pols sound like whats his face in Jaws. Like right on script. We can't tell people not to go in the water. We are open for business.

My buddy is down at Ocean Isle with his family right now and he actually caught a smaller (5ft) shark on the beach the night before the attacks.

Godspeed! http://www.ocearch.org/#SharkTracker
I'll be down in Topsail the week before the 4th - Hoping to do my first surf fishing. Never surf fished before.

Looks like "Fritz" might be in the area...
It's great. Let me know if you need some advice. The key to finding the fish is to find the structure. Should be plenty of whiting in the surf down there during the day. They're fun to catch and great to eat. Save the heads and use them for red drum / shark bait in the evening/nighttime. :fishing:

When you get real south it's not the War of Nothern Aggression it's the "FIRST Civil War"

"You don't have to be afraid of the ocean, you just have to respect it."

I've heard that before and it's literally the dumbest saying I've ever heard.

I'm sure those kids were disrespecting that ocean hard.

you have to respect the ocean when swimming in proximity to rip currents or sailing in open water. a shark attacked these kids, not the ocean.

Saw that the attacks happened in waist deep water. Great.

Witness: "He looked like he was waving at his friends, then the shark just came out of the water and like you snap your fingers -- bit his whole arm off."

Don't get in the water near fishing piers when it's feeding time. Live bait in the water, and I'm not talking about the people, tends to draw sharks near.

Where fresh water streams and rivers meet the Oceans are the most dangerous places to swim.
