The Uber experience gone bad... (1 Viewer)

It's 6:44 local time here in Gilbert, AZ. I met some friends earlier at the casino for some drinks and gambling. I was there 5 hours and set up an Uber ride home.

The dude that picked me up is named Robert. I had a nice buzz on when he picked me up. My house is about 13 miles from the casino and the first 8 miles of the ride is highway, 65 MPH is the speed limit. The south 202 is the name of the highway.

We were cruising the first 2 miles at 59 MPH and I asked, "what's the speed limit here". Robert told me the speed limit was 65 mph and he wanted to be below that as he didn't want to encounter any cops. I appreciated that. There was no conversation after this exchange.

We got off on my exit (Val Vista) and headed north to my house. It's a good 5 mile ride from Val Vista and the 202 to my house. Val Vista is a 3 lane, 45mph road. Robert, the Uber driver, was committed to the right lane for the first mile after we exited, waiting behind everyone taking a right turn. I suggested cruising in the middle lane for the next 4 miles, and he jerked his car over, and said, "#### you! I know how to drive. Find your own way home". I've never been taken by surprise like that. It really was that fast. I was shocked. I stepped out of his car and respected his wish.

I was shocked, disappointed, and at a loss. I walked 1/2 mile to the local gas station, called a cab, and got home.

Is there anything I can do in respect to contacting Uber and letting them know they have an unstable person driving for them?

I'm a non-confrontational person and will likely do nothing.

Happy 4th of July! Hope everyone is safe out there.

So, you were ####housed and started telling a sober guy whose job relies on a clean driving record how to drive. And the problem is theirs?

I suggested he go in the middle lane and he pulled over and kicked me out of his car. We said a total of 15 words to each other.

Did you get charged? You should get a map of your route in an email confirmation. Respond to it to complain.

Also, one star review the driver.

Yeah - you can grade him and comment. Not sure if there is a # to call but I bet he's not driving for Uber for long. All of my experiences have been great - use UberX all the time, especially in Phoenix/Scottsdale.

Let's see, so driving 6 miles an hour slower than the speed limit on 8 miles of highway cost you.....about a minute. And you felt the need to tell the guy how to do his job because of that. Nice work.

Sounds like you were an idiot, I'd have done the same thing as he did.
I was absolutely respectful during the entire 15 word exchange. I treat all Uber drivers with respect, as I would any friend of mine giving me a ride home. I can see how you would make your comment based on my post.

I've had 100+ Uber rides in my life and they have all been positive, other than this one.

My comment was made in jest. Just as I'd comment if my Dad was driving the car 59mph in a 65mph zone.

Bagging on Sting is dumb...most Uber drivers I've had don't have a clue where they are going unless I direct every single step of the way for miles and miles (ie which lane to be in, etc).

Half the time we get lost if I don't speak up.

Uber driver is an Uberdoosh.

Respectful is subjective. I'd say berating the guy and trying to tell him how to do his job isn't very respectful, but maybe that's just me. Seems you were an obnoxious drunk and you got an impatient (with you, not speed) driver. You should probably find another method of transportation and he shouldn't be a driver in a customer service based business.

I've directed every single Uber driver on how to get out of my neighborhood. It's standard practice. They never know where they are going. Not a problem as I know where I'm going. I was simply suggesting the quickest way home and my Uber driver wigged out.

Sounds like you were being nothing but respectful, and at least not intentionally disrespectful. People who are always looking to get offended by something are weird. I'd complain as high as you can go with the company. Good luck.

I absolutely didn't come close to "berating" him. I suggested rolling in the middle lane. He was pissed I "questioned" him on rolling 59 in a 65MPH zone. That was my fault. I don't think it was offensive enough to kick me out of the car 3 miles from home. I could be wrong.

I don't think the OP did anything wrong. I would contact Uber and complain. The guy sounds like a lunatic.

Took Uber last night...guy couldn't even get out of my driveway without my help. Almost crashed into a dumpster.

Makes perfect sense to tell someone the best way to get to a place they have never been, especially your own house.

Yep, that's the experience I've had. Great people. Just don't know where they are going. 90% of the rides I've had I've suggested the best way from "A to B".

Yep. honestly...I figure more taxi/uber drivers appreciate it

Thanks man. I understand that people are going to "flame" me for posting this and taking the ride drunk. I really was respectful and trying to be helpful to the driver. My downfall was making my comment when he was rolling 59mph on the freeway. I'm still pretty shell shocked at his actions.

I would think they would appreciate it. Time is money when you are driving for money

Berating?

:lmao:

Don't worry, it won't be long before they all lose their jobs to auto driving vehicles.

Are you a Uber driver card trader?

For my kids, I feel like it.

In all honesty though, if you feel badly about treating a personal servant badly, just renounce your U.S. citizenship imo. Yeah, you were drinking...because you earned it after a long week of keeping the economy spinning mother####er
This guy sounds crazier than the Uber driver.

If you enter your destination into your phone they will have directions without you having to tell them.

I saw a porn the other day where an Uber driver was this really hot chick and she ended up cheating on her boyfriend (who's picture was taped to the dashboard) with her passenger.

I really doubt he will be commenting negatively on her.

Did you have your junk out while talking to the UBER driver? Something is missing, like ejaculating on the uber driver's car seats?

Fact: I have been in cabs with Stingdiddy in multiple states and the District of Cokumbia where he trash talked the cabbie to the point where the cabbie threatened to pull over and kick us out.
