Delanie Walker 2015 (1 Viewer)

What are your thoughts and/or projections for him? Especially with all these new players on offense for the Titans.

Was he only a beast on a poor team or will the extra attention others get help his stats?

Bullish on him for this year, uncertain about his future in Tennessee. Redraft buy, dynasty sell. Best pass catcher on the Titans roster. Should be Mariota's security blanket. Uncertainty about coaching staff and ownership gives me pause investing long term.

The kind of guy I love to hate because if I have him, he will perform as most people would say "what did you expect? He's mediocre." and if I don't own him then he will be peppered with 11 catches for a buck 62 on the week I play against him just because the Titans are so dreaded terrible.

I think his yardage will be up. Not sure on TDs, maybe less.

Solid guy, I'd be comfortable with him if I waited on a TE.

He only had 4 TD's last year. Not sure how his TD's could go any lower, given your bullish outlook on yards. Remember he had almost 900 receiving yards last year.

Lol, thats what I get for not looking.

Mostly I was thinking he'll still get open plenty, a rookie QB will lean on him, and they'll travel down to the redzone less.

But its hard to see less than 4 TDs. So maybe he is up in both areas.

Still very comfortable with him as my TE if I don't overpay early.

Well, if he wasn't featured in the redzone last year despite being a huge part of the offense I think his TD upside may be even more limited this year. Seems to me that Cobb and Mariota will likely carve out more rushing TD's and Green-Beckam looks like a potential monster of a red zone threat just due to his size and athleticism even if he isn't ready to be a polished receiver on other parts of the field.

I like Walker but his biggest strength last yeat was shear volume and I think he has a pretty tough time matching that from last year. Both the running game and defense will be better and I don't expect TEN to repeat as the second worst team in the league.

I think it was there, it was part of the plan and all but Walker just got 10 passes thrown his way and now they're acting as if they can sneak a pass to him inside the 5. The D was all too ready for it and the interior is so stacked near the goalline. The lack of lobs to Hunter, Wright not much of a GL target, everyone knew Walker was their first choice.

Inside the five, I don't think any NFL D can matchup favorably with DGB and Hunter out wide and Walker as TE. I have 8000 issues with them the other 95 yards, but inside the five I think they could go from one of the worst to one of the best offenses. Added FBs, pile mover RBs, mobile QB, blocking TE back...they're all set for GL offense.

They don't get there often. If I watched a Packers or Broncos game after a Titans game, it felt like Rodgers or Manning was in the redzone as much as the Titans were all year, in one game! Nice guy, solid punter, but I wound up hating Brett Kern's name being called.

I think your point about them not being second worst again is rather important. I'd infer more trips inside the redzone from that and actually scoring more than a FG too.

Fasano could be a TD thief of note. Not digging that he is there now.
He's lost a step or...a lot. I think Chase Coffman might beat him out. He did pretty decent as Walker's sub last year
Fasano has been fine, I was wrong here.

Coffman has looked better than Supernaw in games but Supernaw has done fine and looked better in practice. Supposedly it's a tight race for these two

He's pretty much at the bottom of acceptable TE1s for me. If I get him, I won't be terribly excited, but I will plug him in and not worry too much about a backup. If I'm deciding between him and Eifert, who I think is much higher risk/reward, I honestly don't know what I'll do.

Delanie Walker - TE - Titans

Delanie Walker was wearing a cast on his right hand after the Titans' Week 1 win over the Buccaneers.

We're still waiting on an official diagnosis, though the Titans said Walker didn't suffer a fracture. Anthony Fasano would fill in at tight end if Walker has to miss next week's game against the Browns.

Maxx Williams - TE - Ravens

Not surprising. Hate that I drafted this turd.
It's not like you had to invest a high pick to get him. I'm in the same boat but I'm not really bummed that I'll have to stream a TE moving forward. Outside of a handful of TEs, shuffling your TEs can be profitable.

How injured is he? I have him in both of my leagues.
Unclear

Not broken, but cast on it.

Whis said "it's a hand" and he doesn't know yet

I'd guess they anticipated needing xrays and decided MRI when they get home

Full participation in practice Thursday and Friday, listed as probable.

Here's hoping this train gets-a-rolling once more. Have a feeling they will need him against a suddenly resurgent and desperate Colts team looking to score lots of points.

Time to appreciate Delanie and extrapolate numbers because it's fun to do.

Despite missing week 2 he's on pace for a 88/1028/5 stat line. Those reception/reception yard totals would be career highs. Last year, this would have tied him with Greg Olsen (220 points in PPR) for TE4. Also, I think it's become blatantly obvious that he's mastered the tip drill. Thank you for the great value this year, Delanie.

My only beef is that his playoff schedule is a bit rough (faces NYJ and NE in weeks 14 and 15).

Got Delanie in the 11th round in my 12_team league to tag team with Jordan Reed, my 18th round pick. Very happy with both.

Walker gets the Raiders next week, the worst defense in the NFL against tight ends.

Yeah, this guy has been great. Drafted him as the 11th TE off the board and other then a bye week fill in and 1 missed week early, he's been pretty much set and forget.

Picked him up off waivers (no starting TE) and he did a nice job filling in for Odell. Going to be in my lineup more often based on match ups. I've got a luxury at WR-TE with 4 slots (flex) and Odell, Julio, Cooks and Crabtree. I'm thinking of using a bigger name guy and seeing if I can upgrade my RBs and start Walker each week. He puts up numbers but doesn't have the name so he's the guy you keep and trade the name who scores the same amount.

He did not fare well in the fan voting for Pro Bowl.

I really think he and Gronk are the best two TEs this year as both BB and Mularkey said last week. If you like Reed or another and want to say "one of the best"...fine.

It's ridiculous how unappreciated he is by NFL fans (that vote) though.

Assuming not many watch Titans games. He is often doubled with one guy underneath or over the top ready to also help out. 2,3,4 men totally aware of him and ready to pounce.

He almost had one Sunday with 4 Pats there and a few plays later Gronk had 3 Titans on him and ...it's so much when you see it. So many players get notoriety for beating one man in a matchup and...well maybe it's just gotta be seen to be appreciated.

I wonder if there are San Fran fans that wonder what he and Boldin would be like

Even though I have Cam, Antonio and Devonte, this guy has been my MVP. Top 4 TE and never a question on who to start. After week 4, never needed to carry a second TE which freed up roster space.

Thanks Delanie.

He didn't make pro bowl

One of the most ridiculous non-selections in recent memory.

So he got snubbed all the way around

Wouldn't Barnidge be almost as equal of a snub? Barnidge has 5 less yards then Walker, and 3 more touchdowns. And worse QB play.

The only TE that made it that you could argue didn't deserve it is Kelce. I'd put Walker and Bardnidge both in there over Kelce. He has less receptions, TDs, and yards then walker. Wonder if they actually take blocking into consideration.

I don't think he's there yet, Barnidge.

I don't see 3 and 4 guys on him all the time. I don't hear announcers pointing out his blocks.

I put him a step under.

Look at his low games. 20-30 yards is garbage while his 100 yarders are sweet. Sometimes high target and few catch games. Looks to me like he'll be there next year as long as he handles Ds focusing on him more. Smidge of improvement that's normal from year to year.

Kelce appears weak. The guy is non-existent for many quarters and the D falls asleep so he makes a play. That could be how Reid and Alex work it with him getting the Ds attention, but I'd bet there are many many quarters where he doesn't even get a target or it's an in the dirt throwaway not genuine. It seems like every preseason he is the 2nd coming so I'm a bit annoyed with him and bitter.

Neither of these guys get the Gronk and Walker treatment by the D for four quarters.

I'd pick old Antonio over Kelce because it's almost rude to have so many guys cover an old man and when he gets it I want to tip my hat to him. With injuries, he is almost literally Rivers' only target

Pro Bowl selection is meaningless. All-Pro is only thing that means much.
I used to subscribe to this theory.

I don't know when it changed but one third fan voting, one third players, one third coaches seems like a fair formula.

Some say "popularity contest" and I'm not so sure with that formula. If it is, that's also why this bothers me. Delanie is one of the real real good eggs in the NFL. A genuine finalist every year for NFL "man of the year." Titans stink and that's a negative for popularity. What gets me though is for fantasy football, ya gotta love the guy as a late pick. How many FFers appreciate this guy?

Whenever I am dead-locked in deciding, I'm going with my "gut" or "heart" and it will always be to lean toward a man of the year finalist or someone I saw a nice video of doing charity work during a game.

I think ASF Ben Watson and Ladarius probably affected this. They don't deserve to be in but I am totally OK with "they did great against my team so I'm voting for them" because each had a week or two that was wow. This is AFC and NFC though so only Ladarius.

The Jets only have a TE in theory. Thomas hasn't been what's expected, Clay and Cameron either. Broncos needed to trade for a TE. I love both Colts TEs but neither had the production this year. Texans...cmon. Steelers Heath Miller is solid. Maxx and Gilmore have played like half each. There's not many to pick from.

Eifert really? Catch/yardage he has two sweet games and IMO a goose egg counters one of them. That 3 TD game at Cleveland, 3 of 5 catches were for TDs. He's nearly good for 1 TD a week. I do see him clearly having an edge over Delanie in TDs but I don't wanna get too carried away when he's mostly done it against teams that every TE did well against.

It is especially a popularity contest be ause most casual fans will just vote for their favorite players, biasing toward large markets and name recognition...but more, because players aren't carefully studying tape from around the league and vote for guys they like, or played with/against.

I don't expect either group to have a good grasp of who is having their best seasons this year.

Led NFL in catches by TEs, crossed 1000...shame
So mad I didn't start him. I put Ertz in for him, which was correct, but Atlanta was so good against WRs, I almost put Walker back in over Cooks. Should have gone with my gut. Walker was phenomenal and really helped me the last half of the year.
