What kind of contracts to backups who never really started tend to get, though? If they believe in him, it doesn't seem likely it'd break the bank to re-sign him unless some other team gets into a bidding war over him...and that seems unlikely.
I think they would have already extended him if he was in their plans. I expect Elway will look at any UFAs if any are worthwhile. While Eli, WIlson, and RIvers will be UFA's I expect all will resign or get the franchise tag so that leaves trading.
The only way he garners interest around the league is if he looks good in the preseason. If that happens expect the Broncos to resign him at a reasonable price.
IMO, this pre-season will be telling. If he looks good in camp, Elway will pre-emptively sign him to more than he could get on the open market at this point to be the QBotF. Kubiak will have every opportunity to make that decision regardless of game film. If he doesn't look good in camp, they will use him as the primary back-up in 2015 and let him walk after the season.
