Ratt-Invasion of Your Privacy (1 Viewer)

GTFO. You're a Debbie Downer in EVERY thread. Jesus.

The album was awesome.
 Ratt's pretty terrible. Not my fault you have bad taste.
Well, I don't. I think that's pretty clear. You're the one who hates Ratt - and pretty much ANY band, actor or movie. So i think it's safe to say that if YOU don't like something, then it's actually pretty damn good.

Don't you be messing around with Ratt. Or Tesla.

Not true at all.

And Tesla is probably worse than Ratt. Just abysmal.

Ratt's greatest hits are really good. I was a big fan back in the day.

But none of their albums can be considered great although Out Of The Cellar comes close. Each album gets progressively worse and each has a couple good songs but a lot of not so good.

The Ratt & Roll 81-91 greatest hits is a great album.

They had a few catchy tunes that I really enjoyed. A buddy of mine played the club circuit with them (in a different band) before they hit it "big".

RIP, Robbin Crosby. Terrible way to go out.

You son of a...

My favorite bands throughout my teens were Def Leppard, Motley Crüe, Van Halen, and later, GnR and Maiden. Those were all bands that came up organically, playing small places, building a fan base and finding their sound. Guys like Ratt, Tesla, Warrant. Poison etc., not saying they were all crap or they didn't have their moments, but they definitely seemed like ripoff bands just cashing in on a trend.

Tesla formed in 1981, Poison in 1983, Warrant in 1984...GNR in 1985.

I think Tesla was the first to do an unplugged tour and album. I think it was recorded before MTV started Unplugged.

I'm not saying they were great, but that seemed more trendsetting than cashing in.

Did he die while listening to some Ratt tapes?

I like pretty much every band listed. I love GnR even though I have always thought they were the first step in the direction of grunge becoming mainstream. They were a departure from all the over the top and flamboyance of the hair band scene (excusing the video for Welcome to the Jungle). I am not saying they were grunge, just helped in seeing how silly hair bands had become. I see the same thing with all the hip hop these days. Everything is a rip off of a rip off and so cheesy. I can tell you what most videos will be like because they all revolve around the same thing. Time for a re-boot.

Ratt and Poison were warmup acts for a long time in the midwest before headlining. Basically the entire music industry is capitalizing on a trend, then copying it to death.

Poison moved to Los Angeles in 1984, performed in local clubs, got signed in 1986 and released Look What The Cat Dragged In in 1986 and it went to #3 by early 1987. They headlined the 'Look What the Cat Dragged In Tour '86-'87' with Ratt, Cinderella, and Loudness as opening acts.

Anyone who lumps Tesla in with Ratt & Poison (especially Poison) really doesn't know what they are talking about and are stereotyping them. Poison is the poster child for big hair rock & to a degree Ratt is too. Tesla somehow gets associated with those bands since they all came out around the same time but Tesla is pretty much straight forward blue jeans hard rock.

That said I'll admit I like all these bands. Tesla however is more like AC/DC (no, not saying they are as good) in their image & that they are straight forward rock & never compromised.

Tesla is most similar to Great White...both bluesy rock, not as hard as AC/DC.

I'm the biggest fan of any of these bands in the FFA. tesla belongs with def leppard and great white as groups that flirted with hairspray but were really rock all the time. That said, I've seen all three on bills with Poison and other hair bands.

Put me in the camp that still misses the show part of the Rock and roll show. Modern artists are lazy. These guys may have dressed like girls, but they played the same three chords as all the cool bands now and had lasers and fireworks and knew how to put on a show. I think it's funny how much people talk bad about hair metal and the music we've listened to since is really close to the same.

Just checking - most here have likely seen it, but just in case, "The Decline of Western Civilization II: The Metal Years" is a great documentary about the Ratt time in music.

Tesla broke thru a little after the peak of hair metal.

The Great White comparison is a good one.
